I really hope Delhomme is not being brought into compete for a starting spot. I'm going to assume the second year of the contract will be very easy for the Browns to get out of. This moves seems to signal that the front office is going to cut Quinn lose. Ratliff may be gone to depending on if the Browns draft someone which all these signs point to that. This year is obviously another rebuilding year, I thought the Browns might want to see if Quinn could beat out Wallace but if they want to try to draft "their guy" then go for it and lets see if Holmgren knows what he is doing because he does have a track record of finding and developing QB's.
Agree, I think they'll probably try to move Quinn, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them keep him around too. Has all the feelings of another open competition to me. My gut feeling is that it's Wallace's job to lose and Delhomme is insurance.

Haven't read the posts since the signing was announced, but here are my thoughts.

Delhomme is a 35 year old Derek Anderson. It makes no sense for them to sign him to a deal as a starter. They're far better off seeing what they actually have in Quinn, or trying to develop Seneca Wallace. If Delhomme is anything other than injury insurance, this deal makes absolutely no sense for a team that needs to build.

Exactly.

I can't imagine they are set at QB now. That just makes no sense whatsoever if they are.

I'm also wondering if we will see them trade down in the draft now. If this is truly a rebuilding phase (again), Holmgren will want more picks than anything else....right?

The "scoreboard" wasn't even directed at you. The person it was directed @ took it in good fun. Even gave me positive rep.

When someone talks shit to you about your team and you've beaten their team the last 3 times in a row SCOREBOARD is the EXACT response you use. Not sure why you took it as a personal affront. I'm guessing the truth hurts. And no one was pounding their chest. My original post was congratulating the Browns on signing Ben Watson, while semi making fun of them for contemplating signing Delhomme. I was told to worry about how my team was going to ruin 2010. I then responded with the aforementioned scoreboard.

I think it's lame to "thump one's chest" over titles that occurred 45+ years ago. Especially from someone whom from what I can gather wasn't even alive to witness such ...

Read the post again, I'm not thumping my chest over 45+ yr old titles. Big picture is both organizations suck but as it stands right now the Bengals are just the lesser of two evils.

If an unblemished AFC North record last year and 10-6 were mentioned I would give you props. I'd take that for a season no doubt about it. But spouting off scoreboard after beating a lousy Browns team three times in a row (should've been 4 in a row) :roll1:

If? Rebuilding has been perpetual.

Soooooo...

trading down and taking Colt McCoy, right?

I now owe my buddy breakfast because he texted me that the Browns were entertaining Jake Delhomme for a visit and I called him a crack head.

"Why would they bring in a turn over machine like Delhomme when they just got rid of one in Anderson?" I said.

"Delhomme is awful" I said.

I can't take rooting for this team. I really can't.

You have got to be kidding me...Jake "freaking" Delhomme...the guy cried like a baby after they cut him...another turnover machine to replace Anderson...so much for the Holmgren era...it takes real staying power to continue to be a fan of the Browns..I have so many years invested that I'm screwed...get a new owner and clean house...

Well, I don't get the Delhomme signing now. He serves no purpose as the starter of a team that needs to get younger and rebuild. As a backup, sure, he'd be good. But it appears that he's going to be the starter at this point.

From Jay Glazer's Twitter

I'm reporting brady quinn was just traded to denver for peyton hillis and 2 conditional draft picks
I love Peyton Hillis though. He's a fullback who can run the ball. Kind of like a Leron Mcclain. Should be good on third down.

EDIT: The picks are a 2011 6th rounder and a 2012 "late-round" pick according to Schefter. I find it hard to believe that a QB with starting potential is worth as little as a fullback and two late picks in future drafts.
