so if the Browns do have their sights set on a QB in this year's draft, who should it be?

Clausen? Bradford? McCoy? Or maybe a darkhorse like Lefevour?

I think Clausen and Bradford will be gone by 7. I also don't think the organization will want another Weis protege' in Cleveland for awhile.

To me McCoy makes the most sense. Tough and accurate. He can make the type of throws necessary to run the WCO. I also think you can draft at 7 and he'll still be around when it's your turn in the 2nd round (maybe). You don't use a 7th round pick on him that's for sure. I'm hoping against hope that Berry somehow makes it to 7.

Brady Quinn's short tenure in Cleveland just another QB failure for Browns - Don Banks - SI.com

Most of the article is spot-on, but the notion the the Browns ruined so many promising careers is absurd. I mean, look at that list - no broken down old men or steaming turds in the bunch! :roll1: We're talking about bad quarterbacks here - part of the responsibility falls on them for being bad, and the rest on the Browns for giving them jobs.

I guess people still feel the need to think that Brady Quinn is going to turn out decent. There's likely a reason that 2/3 of the NFL passed on him before the Browns tripped over themselves to bring him into the fold. I wonder how long it took before people allowed themselves to realize that Rick Mirer wasn't going to be worth a damn in the NFL - I can't remember.

I agree, none of the mentioned QB's would have done any better anywhere else....Unless the team is known for winning a SB purely on Defense. *cough8 Dilfer *cough*

pick any team and you can find a period were the QB's were not good....I can.

Since Dan Marino.....Dolphins QB ??

Lions.....IMO worse than Cleveland by FAR!!! (and Coaches)

Since Jim Kelly....Buffalo ??

Since trent Green....KC

Raiders

SF since Steve Young....

I mean DA did go to a pro bowl, then we got a shhitty WR for TSUN that dropped MANY balls, with his Sidekick Winslow that f'ed everything up. I think DA is a good QB. I could be wrong, but I saw talent in him and Holcumb and i was wrong their soooo...

I hope I see us make a AFC Championship game in my life time again. ugh:sad:

I really think the Browns are going after a QB with their first pick in this draft. I love Clausen not as a person (I'm sure he'll mature though), but as a quarterback. I'd love to see the Browns go after Clausen, whether that means trading up or trading down. I think he will be a franchise QB. He's perfect in the West Coast offense, has a great arm, great accuracy, and a high football IQ.

If not, hopefully Berry falls.

I'm not sure the Browns are as enamored with Clausen as they are Bradford. Alot will depend on how they throw at their work outs (Bradfords has been delayed) and their one on one meetings when they visit. I can see the Browns moving up for Bradford. If not take Berry or Haden and draft MCCoy, Pike, Lefevour or Kafka IMO.

Yeah, I've read the stuff about Holmgren loving Bradford, but you never really know. It's all just talk. I personally really like Clausen if we are going for a QB. If not, the best thing that could happen to us would have Berry fall which could be a possibility. On McCoy, Lefevour, and Kafka....I'd have to say Ugh and Ugh on McCoy and Kafka. Lefevour, I could be okay with.

I can't believe I just read that...Jimmy Clausen?? Really?? Brady Quinn would steer me clear of any ND QB for a while, especially as the team that gave up a draft for him. Outside of my opinion he's going to be terrible in the league, there have always been questions about his locker-room presence. I think he'd be liked about the same amount Brady Quinn was...which was enough to take a dumbbell to the face by a teammate.

To add to that... A lot of people still say that Quinn doomed himself by holding out. They say it set him back developmentally and in the view of his teammates. I think Claussen has the potential to replay that mess. I think McCoy and to a lesser extent, Bradford you can expect to get their butts into camp.

You may be right KignLeon. Time will tell. Clausen is a good footbal player. Its the intangibles that MH places high value on. Leadership, work ethic, competitiveness, Locker room presence. I don't know Clausen but there are doubts in some of these areas. Silence may mean they like him, although MH has been pretty candid in what he is looking for. I would be fine with Bradford (we'd have to move up) or Clausen at #7. I also like Berry better than Clausen but not as much as Bradford. Pike or Mccoy are my personal picks in round 3.

Maybe it has been talked about before this so sorry if a repost, but why not take a look at Tony Pike or that Lefevour from CM? They run a WCO at those two schools and we wouldn't have to spend a ton of money on them.

Just a thought

We better not draft another QB in the first round...he's just going to end up getting traded if we do. Thats what we do with our first rounders anyway. I read an article that we traded 5 former 1st round picks this year (Although one was Stonehands). We have 3 former 1st round picks left, two being on the O-line which was the best move we made with 1st round picks.
If we can't get Berry or Suh, we better pick up some offensive playmakers or else we can go ahead and start the Cleveland Browns 2011 thread and call for Delhomme's head.
