Still not sure why anybody would voluntarily be a Browns fan, but I figured I would pass this along for ya. :p

Peyton Hillis will be at the Eastwood Mall in Niles, Ohio this weekend for an autograph signing.

I don't understand why they would offer Wright a second-round tender. Hard for me to believe that there might be other teams in the NFL interested in him after last year but I guess Shurmer likes him.
Also don't understand signing Jackson for $4.5 million. I know it is incentive laden but he really hasn't played that much for two years. Maybe if most of the incentive clauses based on games played it doesn't hurt.
I wonder how many free agents the Browns have let go and not tendered.
BEREA, Ohio ? On the eve of a possible lockout, the Browns finished some important business by signing quarterback Seneca Wallace to a three-year deal worth $9 million plus incentives, and linebacker D'Qwell Jackson to a one-year deal worth a little more than $4.5 million including incentives, league sources said.

They also extended cornerback Eric Wright a second-round tender offer, making him a restricted free agent under terms of the current collective-bargaining agreement.

For as bad as he was last year, I don't mind the Wright tender either. The dollar amount for this tender hasn't been set yet, but according to the CPD it would have been $1.759 million for the year under last year's numbers. For that price I don't mind giving him another season to see if he can bounce back. And if somehow another team thinks even more highly of him than the Browns do, they'd get a 2nd rounder out of it.

none of the tenders make a bit of difference once the new CBA is signed. the only way a tender means anything is if it is determined to essentially keep the status quo for next season, meaning the same rules apply to RFA's and UFA's from last year.

as it pertains to DJ, first off, $4.5 million for a starting LB isn't expensive at all. secondly, a majority of the deal is incentive based. So, if he gets hurt, or plays and doesn't do squat, he's not going to make a lot of money. it's a no lose situation for cleveland really.

wright had a terrible terrible year...but he had one terrible terrible year and its not like he had 3 terrible terrible years...im ok with the tender...no one is obviously going to come along and offer us a 2nd round pick for him but thats fine...he can serve as our 3rd CB for now...as far as jackson he was the best LB we had when healthy...hes had 2 freak injuries and we can just pray that he doesnt have another one...with the questions around the CBA right now, a 1 year deal for 4.5 million isnt that bad

From the second round tender offer to Evan Moore article comes the following:

The Browns have until 11:59 p.m. Thursday to give tenders to other restricted free agents, such as fullback Lawrence Vickers, linebacker D'Qwell Jackson, linebacker Jason Trusnik, safety Abe Elam, receiver Chansi Stuckey and cornerback Eric Wright.
If the tenders are not going to be worth anything when a new CBA is signed, I do not understand why the media is making such a big deal out of them and historically I cannot remember so many articles about tenders to other players.

Also, does this now mean that Elam, Stuckey, and Trusnick are now free agents or what:confused:

because people don't understand how the whole CBA process works. The reason so many tenders are being offered is to either get a guy to agree to a new deal, circa dqwell jackson, or in the event of the current CBA being extended for another year, for teams to cover themselves and get compensation.

Someone called into Jim Rome's show today from Youngstown, Ohio.

The person said he'd heard serious rumors about the Browns trading Jake Delhomme to Arizona for Larry Fitzgerald and a 2nd round pick.

I almost drove off the road...
