NFL Network's Mike Lombardi expects Brady Quinn to be no better than the Browns' No. 3 quarterback in 2010.
The alternative would be Cleveland moving Quinn for a late-round pick. According to Lombardi, Quinn is too inaccurate for the Browns' new West Coast offense. Lombardi also projects Seneca Wallace to be the Browns' No. 2 QB, and club president Mike Holmgren to find a starter via trade or the draft.

That begs the question of who might be targeted for that spot.

Obvious names that come to mind are McNabb & Hasselbeck. I think people might riot at the very mention of Hasselbeck. Who else might they be looking at?

McNabb and Philly are like a bad marriage the whole family knows will have to eventually end and end badly, but they keep sticking it out for the kids.

Having said that, he'd be a nice short-term quarterback as the Browns search for their long-term solution. There is no solution out there this year.

mike lombardi makes tony grossi look like the beacon of journalism, and folks around here know how I feel about grossi.

this guy has hated quinn since day 1, regardless of on the field performance. mike holmgren is not the coach, he's not the OC. cleveland isn't magically switching to a west coast offense. lombardi is a douchenozzle of the highest order.

Derek Anderson says "ruthless" Browns fans "don't deserve a winner" | ProFootballTalk.com

Former Browns quarterback Derek Anderson, cut on Tuesday by the team, ripped Cleveland fans via an e-mail sent to Jeff Schudel of the News-Herald.

"The fans are ruthless and don't deserve a winner," Anderson said. "I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn't great. I hope and pray I'm playing when my team comes to town and [we] roll them."

Anderson also said that, after the 2009 season ended, he heard from no one with the organization until learning that he had been cut.

The cheering incident to which Anderson refers occurred in November 2008, when fans reacted happily to the fact that Anderson was on the ground, writhing in pain. As it turned out, he had torn a knee ligament.

The team's quarterback quandary traces to the 2007 season. Rookie Brady Quinn held out in a contract dispute, making Anderson the backup to Charlie Frye in Week One. Frye was benched during the 34-7 loss to the Steelers, and he was traded to Seattle a couple of days later. Anderson took the reins.

It was presumed that Anderson was merely holding the spot until Quinn was ready, which of course meant that Anderson experienced no pressure. Which allowed him to hold the ball a little more loosely and play well. Until the playoffs were on the line and the pressure caused him not to play well.

After the season, the Browns badly misread the situation, re-signing Anderson and making him the starter. Inevitably, he held the ball tighter and looked over his shoulder and ultimately was benched. After Quinn was injured, Anderson returned, only to suffer the knee injury that prompted fans to applaud.

So Phil Savage/Romeo Crennel regime made a huge mess in 2008. Finally, someone is trying to clean it up in a decisive way.

This time around, we can't fault Browns fans for cheering.

He has a point. Cheering an injury is as low class as you can get. That said, he's an awful QB and I'm glad he's gone.

I'm not sad he's gone. But I don't blame him for being pissed off about the cheering. I've been saying that the biggest problem with the Browns is the impatience of the fans. If management had time and could look five years down the road with a plan without fans bitching about it, we could be a contender in five years.

This isn't the first time Browns fans did that to a quarterback. Its as low class as you can get. If I had been there for that game, I'm not sure I would have been able to keep my mouth shut if some idiot standing next to me were cheering. I think we'd come to blows (with me getting the worst of it of course)

Tim. Couch. :slappy:

It was awesome that the fans pissed on him after one game from Kelly Holcomb. Nevermind he led the team to a 9-7 record and a wild card berth the year before.

It won't be long until the fans cheer a Brady Quinn injury for Seneca Wallace. It's pathetic and unbecoming of the standard to which (I hope) most Browns fans hold themselves.
