Looks like I'm going to have to take the part about Troy Smith out of that article I wrote. This pretty much ends the Troy Smith to the Browns speculation.

From Adam Schefter:

Goodbye, Derek.

Seneca Wallace? Really? :smash:

There's only a handful of NFL QBs I'd take Brady Quinn over and Wallace is one of them :smash: :pissed:

4-12 here we come.

Yep the rumors that they would be bringing Seneca wallace to the Browns have been out there for at least a week. Terrible signing in my opinion. Supposedly the plan is for Wallace to either run the west coast offense or teach it to Quinn. Holmgren made Wallace into an ok qb in the system and now he wants to bring him to us. Hate this move because this is not the answer we need to improve this team at QB. The more I think about it the more it looks to me like they may be planning on drafting a QB this year.

The Browns have been building for this upcoming 4-12 season for the last ten years. Did you really think something like a new team president or GM were going to stop that kind of momentum?

Also...

Brady Quinn's QB rating in his BEST season: 67.2
Seneca Wallace's QB rating in his WORST season: 70.9

Plus, pending any other deals he's probably going to be the most experienced QB in camp.

unbelieveable!!!! Troy could have sold so many jerseys and tickets for the Browns. So now instead of the Browns collecting ex-Jets, they are now in the ex-seahawks business?

What in the world can you people give as real evidence for wanting Troy Smith over Seneca Wallace? I'm not talking about selling tickets or who you are a bigger fan of (simply because he went to OSU).

A late round pick in 2011 and you guys are against this???

Seneca Wallace is at the worst a good backup QB.

And who knows? He could start. Two years ago he was 11 td to 3 int's

I hope you're right, but that was against one of the worst divisions in football that year.

The NFL is a business. Do you really think Wallace is going to do anything for that franchise? Would Troy have won the starting job? I don't know, possibly. What I do know is I would have bought an authentic Smith jersey and I'm not even a browns fan.

You're right from a pure football standpoint. Wallace is now the best QB in Cleveland, IMO. I still think Troy is the better QB and would win a startung gig over him if given the opportunity.

From a business standpoint, the Browns left a lot of money on the table, assuming they don't make a move for Troy. Between ticket sales and jersey sales, Troy would more than pay for his salary, back-up QB included. I'm still holding out a little bit of hope, but I think the writing is on the wall...
