Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

The Jets would want more than a first-rounder for Revis, as they should. I don't even think they'd entertain offers for him.

I've heard multiple Browns fans say they wanted Revis. Was this ever actually discussed, or just a message board rumor? Every trade scenario I've seen on message boards regarding Revis has the Browns severely under-valuing him. He's already on the verge of being a top-5 CB in the NFL, might be there already.

This Browns team is going to be pretty damn bad, though.

I don't agree with this. If you think back to last summer most people thought the Browns would be a playoff contender. The reason was that they had some pretty decent talent on the team. Of course the season went to hell but I don't think the talent assessment was that far off. If they hadn't blown leads in back to back weeks against Baltimore and Denver the season outcome could have been remarkably different.

Thinking about this year, pretty much all of the key guys except Winslow are back and several upgrades have been made to the starting units as well as team depth. I think that pretty much every area on the team has been improved and the schedule should be easier. I don't see any reason why this team can't be competitive. I'm not going to predict playoffs or anything just yet but I could easily see this team being around .500

No to Braylon: New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs does not want Braylon Edwards as a teammate, according to The New York Post.
Braylon Edwards (left) burned the New York Giants on Monday Night Football last season, but Giants running back Brandon Jacobs said he doesn't want Edwards as a teammate."I don't want him," Jacobs said last weekend on ESPN 1050 Radio. "There are great players in the league that I don't want. I just think the chemistry between the teammates that I have now is great. We don't need to add a new veteran to the whole group."
come on Brandon have a heart:wink2:

Article looking at the Browns depth position by position.

Cleveland Browns: Competition Abounds | Bleacher Report

The first step of achieving the team?s new vision was by adding as many pieces to the puzzle as possible to promote competition at every single position. Only by looking at the current makeup of the team roster from top to bottom can one understand the depth of change and approach this new hierarchy will attempt to establish.

Trouble already:shake:. Give him the money because Lerner told him that he would get it.

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Cribbs set to skip minicamp if contract isn't reworked - cleveland.com

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Cribbs set to skip minicamp if contract isn't reworked
by Mary Kay Cabot, The Plain Dealer

CLEVELAND -- Browns receiver Josh Cribbs plans to boycott the team's voluntary minicamp this week unless progress is made on his contract by 5 p.m. tonight, a source told The Plain Dealer this morning. The minicamp is Tuesday through Thursday.

Cribbs, who made the Pro Bowl last season, signed a six-year extension in 2007 -- before becoming a special teams star -- worth $6 million, including $2 million guaranteed.

Former Browns general manager Phil Savage promised Cribbs in training camp last season that the team would take care of him this offseason, the source said.

After Savage was fired, Cribbs received a call from Browns owner Randy Lerner saying that the team would still fulfill the promise. But Cribbs has made no progress with the new regime of coach Eric Mangini and general manager George Kokinis. An e-mail seeking response from Kokinis and Mangini was not immediately returned.

Cribbs was told by Kokinis that his deal would get done after the draft, but it's been almost a month with no progress. Last week, at a charity event, Cribbs said he was excited about the season because he was playing both receiver and strong safety.

"I'm going to defensive meetings and offensive meetings," he said.
But he won't be going to anything else until the substantial progress is made, the source said. That includes the minicamps this week and next week, and the organized team activities in the first week of June.

Cribbs is believed to be seeking at least what Chicago's Devin Hester received from the Bears last year: $40 million over four years with $15 million guaranteed.

The source said the new regime has said it shouldn't be bound by the promises of the previous one. But Cribbs' camp cites Lerner's vow to make good on Savage's word.

Who knows what Cribbs was promised?

He's under contract. I hate holdouts. Sit at home if you don't like it. This team ain't winning the Super Bowl this year anyway.

OH10 i tend to agree with you but Cribbs is a special case. 1. He's a baller 2. A huge fan favorite (not many of them these days) 3. He's done all the right things for this team.

If Lerner made promises, let him step in and make this right. Keep the new regime out of harms way.

Also, OH10 are you note # 20. Are you a Tony Stewart fan or Joey Logano?

Cribbs deserves whatever he wants... who else can play... KR, PR, WR, QB and this season DB? whatever he wants, just write him a check...

outside of KR, he has not shown the ability to play any of those other positions with even marginal effectiveness. that's why he's not going to cash in.

He's one of the top three KRs in the game... and Hester's making something like $7M a year...

He's also a pretty good gunner on special teams...

Need a trick play at QB... he's your man
Need insurance at WR or DB.. go grab Cribbs..

Jack of all trades + master of KR = value ... Caaa-ching .. he's gonna get a new deal... paying him < $1M is usurious and unfair business

because chicago stupidly overpaid Hester, who by the by, has shown to be far superior to cribbs at the wr spot, cleveland should overpay cribbs?

so, because cleveland used him on a few wildcat plays at qb and he's just a guy that could play wr or db, although he stunk as a wr and has never played one snap at db, cleveland should overpay for him? thankfully you aren't the gm.
