Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

you're gettin a bit dramatic...

my point is simply that he is worth more than he making (under $1M)... IMO, much more.. but I also like the fact he's a local (Kent State) with fan support... and less than Hester (which has an avg potential of $10M)... there is room

me as the GM... I'll all in for fairness and integrity.. that's just who I am and what I am...

It's worth reworking a deal to keep Josh happy. He might want Hester money, but he is under contract so the team has some leverage. I say front load a contract that splits the difference between what he makes and what Hester makes with a year or two added from his current deal and add incentives for great stats. Most of the fault from this situation lies with the agent that worked out his first extension. 6 years 6 mil is ridiculously dumb for his talent.

actually, calling a guy that has never played one snap at DB and was inept at WR a "jack of all trades" is what is dramatic.

cribbs' agents met with the Browns in February. There were no more discussions. Back then it was said that Cribbs wanted Hester money. He's a good special teams player that has shown nothing in terms of being anything else, outside of running a gimmick wildcat play on occassion. Until he shows otherwise, whining about a contract is dumb, and paying him more, is just as stupid.

I tend to agree with tsteele once again and this is getting hard to believe. Cribbs signed a contract through 2012 and unless he does something really out of the ordinary he should be held to the terms of the contract he signed. Maybe give him a little more money because he does have value as a KR but certainly nowhere near the money that Hester is getting. Also, just because he is a local product out of Kent State does not mean that he should get more money. A NFL football player is an NFL football player and I don't care what school he graduated from. I guess that means the LB from Hawaii should get paid around a $1000.

Guys who usually can't make the first team are the guys who play on special teams and that's why Cribbs should not be overpaid. The Browns are also saying now that Lerner made no promises back in February so it is back to who said what. The thing that really bothers me is why doesn't Joshua report to minicamp and show what he can do and not be a distraction by holding out.

Actually, being caustic towards anybody with an opinion that differs from your own is.

You are well informed and always have great insight, but the tone of your posts and wisecracking towards anybody with an opinion you don't agree with diminishes that. It's tibor-light.

or, you were over the top in your assessment and I responded in-kind, and you didn't like it.

Thanks for making my point for me. :roll1:

you're welcome. don't be a drama queen about it. insert another tibor reference to make yourself feel better if you wish.

if you agreed with the point I was making you wouldn't be whining about my "tone" on a message board anyway, so I fail to see where your going with this.

Well, this will be my last post on the subject because, clearly, it's going nowhere. I think you have a lot of good things to add and say. You're very knowledgeable and have solid opinions (I rarely, if ever disagree with you), the problem is you have to get little digs in and talk down to other posters in the process instead of simply making a point. That's all. From the reps of gotten, I'm obviously not the only one who feels this way. If you want to continue to bicker about it, send me a pm, or have the last word here...whatever.

i fail to see how saying that cribbs' asking for a new contract is dumb and the idea of paying him is just as stupid is a direct reflection of anyone here. but, if it offended anyone's delicate sensativities, I apologize.
