Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

I'm still confident boy Brady will get another chance to suck this year.

Oh I definitely think he'll get another chance...quite probably at the end against the weaker teams, which could make him look better...which could have been the plan all along.

Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan: Show up and back team - ESPN

"That [ticks] me off. This is Cleveland. They're going to show up and back this damn team," outspoken defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said. "This is a town that's tough and that loves football. Nobody's happy. I hate me, too. So they hate me. Great. Doesn't mean you turn your back.

"I've got a kid who flunked a class one time and it [ticked] me off. I don't turn my back on him. I go get a tutor and help him."

"Nothing is ever given to Cleveland. Hell, their team was taken away one time," Ryan said. "You think you're not going to fight for that team? Yeah you are.

"A little adversity happens, you don't turn your back. You rub your hands together and fight harder. So it doesn't look like we've got Jim Brown back there right now. Well it's not easy. We'll fight and get better. Our fans are great fans. They deserve better and we're going to give them better."

I love this attitude from Coach Ryan. This is Cleveland. The whole boycott crap is BS and we're a fanbase that's above that shit. Leave the empty seats and grocery bags to Detroit.

I bitch and whine about my teams sucking. But I know when I got out to watch the games, the other fans wearing orange and brown are the real deal. And we'll be rewarded.... some day.... hopefully.

Have to agree with him as well. At least he didn't slam the fans, or at least the real ones...he's pretty much right on.

I like Rob Ryan, and the silver mane of his is FIERCE. The whole boycott thing is stupid. Who cares if the place looks empty for a little while? Randy Lerner already got your money, you idiots.

Rob Ryan and his defense is not the issue here. It's not his/their fault the offense can't stay on the field for more than a 1 yard run, a sack, an incomplete pass and a punt. The offense is so horribly inept, the '85 Bears defense of his father would look bad.

As for the QB issue. DA is absolutely awful. I mean, he's even worse at this point than I ever thought possible. On top of his historically bad decision making, I now think he's shell shocked on top of that. Is it time to go back to BQ? Who the hell knows. It doesn't matter. They have no run game to make defenses respect the pass. No recievers to throw to and a bad OL. I thought DA's arm would at least allow them to move the ball a little, but they've been no better with him than with Captain Checkdown. Give Ratliff a chance, why not? Worst that could happen is he gets sacked and blows his knee out and you bring back Ken Dorsey to sacrifice to the wolves. Bet case, you actually score a couple points and average over 120 passing ypg.

This is, by a good margin, the worst browns team I've ever had the displeasure of (occasionally) watching. Worse than the expansion team, worse than the 2000 comedy troupe that started Spergon Wynn. Worst of all, not only are they bad, they're boring as fuck aside from the occasional guffaw.

Summer camp has closed and I, for one, love it. They may not win games pretty, but I have a sneaky suspicion this team's gonna be a lot better this year.

Fucking idiot. :slappy:

IMO if you give the defense a couple more playmakers and a halfway decent offense they would get the job done. Hopefully 11 picks in the draft can fill some of the holes.

Maybe.

I wonder who will be making the picks though.

Is the game even worth trying to find on the TV tomorrow? I mean seriously, after a great Saturday, Sunday has been a letdown so far this year and I don't see tomorrow as being any different. Anyone?

Haven't they learned their lesson drafting QBs in the first round yet?
It's a crap shoot, QBs ask for more than anyone else in 1st round, you're married to them for years and meanwhile they're still going to be surrounded by the same inadequate team that even Manning would struggle with.

What we need at QB is a guy like Henne. A pro-style college QB with a good arm (no, not "I can throw 500yds while sitting on my ass" arm) that had a lot of college starts and, compared to the media whores' (ESPiN) favorites, was flying under the radar playing for a shit team nobody cares about.
You can get a QB like that in the mid-2nd or 3rd round every year and not worry about paying them over-rated-ND-QB #702 stupid money. If you've got some decent scouts and guys that can identify talent (HA! as if...) you could even find one on day 2 -- Manginis' favorite day.
Such a mediocre QB would be "good enough" while we spend the rest of the picks on much-needed talent.

Considering all that, I predict we'll trade up 2 spots -- also giving up 2011 1st round, Thomas, and BQ in exchange for all their day2 picks in the process -- so that we can draft Clausen.

Quinn must have really pissed off Mangini. He got benched in week 3 and Anderson has been dogshit since then yet he keeps playing.

You spent a first rounder on Quinn. Spend the rest of the season seeing if there's any hope for the future with him. Anderson is a journeyman, nothing more.

DA = worst starting QB in league history. He should be bussing tables somewhere in Youngstown.

Just ask the league if you can disband and restart as a new expansion team. Whipe the slate clean because this mess is beyond hope.
