I'm torn about Savage leaving. I still think he's a good personnel man saddled with a mongoloid coach. Even if a Paoli-whoever combo comes to town, I'm tempering my expectations. Losing just becomes ingrained in you after so long...

I'm dead serious when I say the '99 or '00 Browns would beat this team...handily. Goodbye Phil, goodbye Romeo...2007 was kinda fun. There are some pieces here for the new regime to work with. Both lines are in much better shape than the past few transitions and there is some talent at the skill postitions. Just need a good coach to knock some heads and some upgrades at LB and in the secondary. I'm not sold on Quinn yet, but he showed some flashes. I don't know what to do with KWII or Braylon. Personally, if the returns are decent, I'd like to see both of them traded. They're gonna have to think about RB soon too because JL is no spring chicken. I still don't understand why they didn't use Harrison more this year as a change of pace back...then again, I understood little Romeo and his staff did this year.

hmmmmmm......

Romeo Crennel - Can't develop players, does not prepare team adequately, appears completely incapable of handling the personalities within the team.

Charlie Weis - Can't develop players, does not prepare team adequately, appears completely incapable of handling any type of diet.

I dont think Romeo has fared any better than Charlie in the dieting department...

I feel bad for the Lions. They will go down in history for finishing 0-16, but honestly right now they are 10x the team the Browns are.

The only good news to come out of todays game is that it absolutely must have sealed Romeo's fate (if there was any doubt left)

Do you think that the Browns should hire Don Shula?....

Well whoever comes in needs to start cracking skulls. I've never seen a team implode like this one. Yes there were injuries, but the top two QBs stunk when they were healthy.

Bring in Cowher and Pioli and start creating a winning organization a la the Steelers. I fucking hate that team but they are a great organization. Shit, even the Ravens seem to be doing it right. Fucking cock sucking rat birds.

I don't know if you can get Cower and Pioli. Pioli will need at least as much control as Savage had and it sounds like Cower would want some of that to come back to any team. I'd love to get Cower, but I'd be happy with Pioli and one of the good young up and coming coaches that it seems like other teams have no problem hiring as a head coach.

crennel officially fired.

Cleveland Browns fire Romeo Crennel - Cleveland Browns football NFL News - cleveland.com

rumors out of NY are that with mangini getting the axe today as well, that cleveland's new regime is going to be pioli as GM, Josh McDaniels as HC, and Mangini as DC.

That wouldn't suck at all.

Apparently Savage was offered what equated to his old position at Baltimore and he said no.

Isn't Josh McDaniels still a kid? I don't know if he's ready to be a HC, but he does seem to be one of the brightest up and coming coaches. He's an Ohio guy at least so he would hopefully be up for drafting other Ohio guys. The Steelers seem to be doing well with guys like Holmes, Harrison, and Big Ben rather than the Browns Axis of Evil: Winslow, Edwards, and Quinn.

wasn't the same thing said about Tomlin in pittsburgh when he was hired? They are only a year and a half apart. as long as there is a competant GM in place and quality assistants, he'll be fine.

IMO he has to be better than Romeo plus he isn't a fat ass. I think the right move is to pick an up and coming coordinator as long as it's the right one. A lot of people doubted the Tomlin pick at the time and he has seemed to turn into good choice. If they do go with the above hires I wonder if they keep Chud as OC?

I'm not sure how you justify keeping your OC when the team failed to score a touchdown in the last six games of the season.

Fire the whole bunch. This house needs to be burned down and rebuilt (again).

It's amazing how a guy can go from genius to failure in 1 season.
