"Clean" College Athletic Programs

That being said - Nebraska still does not meet the definition of the 'Fulmer Cup'. To do that, the entire team would have to get on a bus, go to Hastings, kill the entire population there (of 70, lol), get back on said bus, drive to Omaha, drag a bunch of ladies down the stairs by their hair WHILE running over kids with cars.

The criterion was that there was a history of student athletes getting in trouble with the law, and gaining Fulmer Cup points. Yup, UNL's may be minor, but they're still there... we can't all by Auburn, right?

Of course Texas football players receive perks. I would feel extremely confident in speculating that that goes on everywhere. If the requirement for program cleanliness is that athletes don't receive disallowed perks, there won't be a single school that qualifies as "clean". That's why I (and I think the original questioner) was only considering findings by the NCAA of major violations (as opposed to behind-closed-doors-perks) as being a mark of uncleanliness.

I realize that's just a "for fun" response, but just to be clear, I was referring to perks for UTx football players, not perks for Texas high school players. And along those lines, I think you basically have to restrict this discussion of violations to those Universities that have actually been found guilty of major violations by the NCAA. Because if you're going to consider the question of what schools have athletes who get disallowed compensation for being part of the program, I think this quote from bassbuckeye's link is correct:

You forgot about the NCAA saying "We've caught you...well...you turned yourselves in. Now you must be punished severely so that in the future, other schools will hide their transgressions better."

I personally think that is the question to a very substantial extent. That being said, I think a reasonable minimal requirement is, if you're a University employee with responsibility for minimizing this stuff, don't personally do anything that explicitly violates the rules. Because if you do and it's found out, you brought upon yourself the forthcoming colonoscopy. This is where I say that Tressel/OSU, while being probably at worst run-of-the-mill on this stuff, still largely deserve what they get.

Pretty sure there have been people posting in these threads recently that have said they had first hand knowledge of freebies happening at the D3 level! Basically, if you want to root for a team that isn't gonna get in trouble...you have the L.A. Clippers.

That's not how I read the original question. The original question laid out specific criteria. If you want to ask the alternate question; what school only has student/athletes who are true students that just happen to be athletically talented, and whose athletes do not get any formally disallowed benefits-around-town? You and I agree that the answer is probably "no one". Particularly if you throw in the extra requirement; which of these schools have money programs that are consistently successful. Maybe Davidson (from what I understand, their athletes don't get any admissions boost, but I'd still wager they get some preferential treatment from local businesses).

I'll echo that for the freaking NAIA, and not just football & basketball either.

NAIA is worse, since there's no national accountability per se. It's why so many are trying to get out.
