"Clean" College Athletic Programs

Do Army, Navy, and Airforce count even though they're not traditional academic schools? :wink2: I can't imagine they would have any recruiting violations there, let alone other transgressions

In this day and age, I think it's nearly impossible to keep a 100% clean slate indefinitely. Part of the problem is there are so many ticky-tacky rules imo, like trading your own property for goods/services, that student-athletes are bound to screw up at some point. Some may do it with full knowledge that they're bending the rules, others may not even consider their actions have ramifications.

Athletic department compliance individuals are getting better/stricter all the time too, and as a result universities are reporting their own violations more and more to try and avoid harsher penalties. There was an article in SI a few months back about this I think, many compliance departments have a policy in place where major violations that come out under their watch and aren't reported by them first can result in an immediate firing. Thats a tough pill to swallow considering 50+ student-athletes on a football team alone, and you have to keep tabs on each of them while trying to uncover any wrongdoing like a detective.

The service acadamies have the biggest pay for play scam of all, they actually gaurantee recruits jobs after graduation......jobs where they tell perfectly good NCO's how to do their job

Well, if you're talking success in only one major sport (and the original question said at least one major sport), then we should be able to add Butler and Gonzaga to the list.

If you're looking for occasional moderate success, then I'd put any of the service academies and Northwestern on the list...but that wasn't the original question, so I can't add them in good faith.

Hmmm. Butler and Gonzaga don't have the legacy, IMHO, and Northwestern has the point shaving scandal in their past.

Just because a school hasn't been caught doesn't make them clean.
Truer words were never spoken.

If a program hasn't been identified as a violator, that only means one of the following three things:

1. They're good at hiding evidence
2. The investigation is either ongoing or is yet to begin
3. Nobody gives a flying fuck whether they are violating rules or not, since they aren't very good.

I don't think there is a Div 1 program that operates without issues but I will vouch for Oneida Elementary..they run a clean basketball and volleyball program..
Yeah ... like those popcorn profits don't get funnelled right back into "impermissible net re-weaving."
