"Clean" College Athletic Programs

Not always... some of the bottom dwellers often have the most disfunction. See Bears, Baylor.

So the basketball coach covers up the murder of one fucking player and all of a sudden they're dirty? Whatever.

You can't get mad at the bottom feeders for trying to get better.

In my opinion saying everyone does it is a cop out.......I think it is impossible to recruit top 150 players and be successful with out the bad apple that takes full advantage of anyone offering hook ups etc... what I think should be the differential is...is it institutional and systemic or is it bad apples leading the perk frenzy or doing crimes every now and again.

Interesting topic!

My first thought was Syracuse. They have been town the past 5-10 years in football, but they are of historical significance and seem to be fairly clean in both Hoops and Football.

Syracuse's basketball program has been nailed more than once I believe.

To clarify, this started as a discussion between myself and a Southern Cal fan on "man, what program could someone follow that wouldn't give them headaches", rather than a "oh yeah? Everyone's doing it!" thing.

Also thinking about Wake Forest. They've reached above average success in Hoops and Football and haven't had violations pinned on them.

But I'm probably wrong again...

I have my doubts about Syracuse hoops. Melo was being recruited by everybody. I don't think he has the character to turn down the $$$ now, let alone coming out of high school.

Maybe he really likes snow.

I don't disagree with this, which is why I've always favored a more zero tolerance approach when those bad apples show their true colors. Troy Smith is always held up as the poster child supporting JT's approach, but Clarett, Reynolds and others certainly haven't merited his patience. Bet JT is wishing he'd shown Ray Small the boot about right now.

What about Texas A&M? They're above average in both Football and Mens hoops - have they faced suspensions/sanctions?

Can't say I follow them much.

One word: Jackie Sherrill.

(Well, that and aTm is where Alabama coaches go to learn to cheat)
