I THINK NOT! GENIUS CREMEPUFFS! GENIUS! ANYBODY CAN WIN LIKE TRESSEL BUT TRY PLAYING YOUR AGE IN GOLF OR RANKING YOUR OFFENSE TO CELEBRATE YOUR STORIED TRADITION!

How can you criticize this offense when it's so consistent?

It was ranked 119th last week, also.

Which latter part is exactly why I couched my answer.
Option 1 - Reuland isn't getting playing time at ND, yet was very highly rated. Either he wasn't all that and a bag of chips thus Weis and company blew their talent evaluations - OR
Option 2 - There is superior talent to Reuland on the depth chart - in which case that should be perfectly evident from play on the field, but, it is not.

Doesn't like a win-win assessment to me.

gotcha... catch 22.

Reuland walking away is a bit of a mystery. First off, if hes upset that hes not 1st string, thats pretty silly. Hes not going to start in front of Carlson, who was one of the best TEs in the country last year.
The #2 spot for TEs was probably Reuland's to lose, so if he wasn't there already he probably wasn't the talent people believed him to be. As far as transferring, I can say best of luck to him I guess. ND is churning out TE talent right now, Reuland isn't going to get much more exposure or opportunities at his position elsewhere. The offense isn't there now, but the kid still had 2 years to prove himself after this, 3 if he was redshirted.
I imagine offensive line problems will be fixed or improved by next year, and the talent is there at the skill positions. When the O-line blocks, the running backs will break some plays like they did last Saturday. Reuland could have been the starting TE next year and done well, his Junior and Senior years would have been worth the wait. I'm not going to say he can't make a name for himself elsewhere though, if he does have the talent and goes to the right program, he'll still do fine. Greg Olsen originally went to Notre Dame, but then transferred to Miami and turned out pretty good in the draft.

It probably has less to do with expecting to start over Carlson right away than it does with abandoning a sinking ship. Charlie's desperation boot camps couldn't help build any confidence in these kids that they'd made the right choice either.

Speaking of Chucky Cheese, I Tivoed the MSU - ND game and had to listen to the booth boosters do the announcing... made me want to chuck my cheese several times. Two impressive (note use of sarcasm font) scoring drives, 11 yards and 50 something, a bunch of first downs and a back who helped the running game show positive numbers despite numerous sacks of the pickle, loved when he got sacked and stripped by Saint Dic (what an apt name for a defensive end)... and all the while the TV audiance was assured that those who were enjoying the 07 Irish season had best watch out for 08 and 09 'cause they're going to be loaded.... It's enough to make you scream "Go Blue!" the next two Septembers.

Think that they've got some bucks invested in those future audiences? :slappy:
