Game Thread CFP Semifinal: Ohio State vs. Clemson, Sat 12/31 @ 7p ET, ESPN

Just want to throw this out there .... Kevin Wilson is a free agent and no one will want to hire him for a very long time.

Hire him urban and he's ours for years
I'm willing to take the PC hit on Wilson. He's an excellent game planner and I doubt urban will let him make players practice injured. I think Wilson would be an A+ hire. But even though urban says he respects Wilson I don't know if they really know each other or would work together.

Chris Fowler was talking about the culture the clemson coaching staff instills versus the culture OSU's staff instills, in general. Apparently dabo told Fowler "they make their players want to quit everyday. That's the Ohio State way." He went on to say, in contrast, at clemson they "make their players feel good about themselves" and nurture them, let them grow sort of naturally or some [Mark May]. Kind of like coddling them along.

His assessment (which could be bull[Mark May]) of the culture instilled by the OSU coaching staff reminded me of the military training methods that I've heard Meyer uses to get his players ready. Making the kids "want to quit everyday" sounds kind of military to me. But it has to be bull[Mark May] meant to sway recruits. And I'd think recruits must know OSU's training regimen well enough to know what the culture will be.

How many championships Dabo has again? That should be the point.

Any "expert" that has one, let alone three, of our receivers as first round picks is no "expert". You keep banging this tired drum. There's no first round talent in our current starting receiver pool.
You don't think Samuel has a chance to be a first rounder? How many of these guys do you think will play on Sunday?

I heard this stuff last year. We didn't have receivers etc. Three of them are playing on Sundays plus the TE plus a very good receiving RB. I will try to find the guys draft. Someone posted it here last week. He had 6 Buckeyes going in the first round. Maybe he is the biggest Buckeye fan on the planet?

My point remains, I think we have several guys that will play on Sunday, including Brown, Campbell, Samuel, Hill, maybe Baugh, Smith, and a possible Wilson.

In today's age ( as wrong as I think it is) kids will lean towards the Clemson way then the OSU way of things. We need IMO to find a better balance of not having such a defeating end result. I bet we are the type that even if a kid wins a drill they still make him run too because he didn't win the drill "the right way". If you are going to take the winner and loser route you better reward kids when they win.

I don't have an answer to that. But maybe, just maybe seeing what these two hacks were doing led to him reaching out to Kevin Wilson last week?

When I saw Urban was interviewing him, I wondered how you could sell that to parents when you're trying to recruit their sons given what he's been accused of. That said, it's probably easier to sell him + an assurance from Urban that he's being monitored closely/has learned from it, than it is to sell them on coming to play in a Beck offense when they're trying to show out to secure their financial futures.

For F*ck sake, I'd take Art Briles over Tim Beck at this moment.

Hard to know these things. I doubt Saban coddles players and Alabama is probably the greatest dynasty ever. Each kid is different anyway.

Fuck, I just realized I have to go out front and take the damned flag down. So I hope that Urban will also take down what he needs to take down.

Fuck that. I'm keeping ours up. Not trying to be judgemental....

But, shut out or not, I'm always going to be a proud Buckeye.... Shut out or no shut out. Did we look like shit tonight? Fuck yeah. Doesn't change the fact I'm amazed we even beat Oklahoma let alone got chosen to play with the "big boys" this year.

Am I embarrassed as fuck all? Yes.
Am I going to run out and take down my team colors because of a terrible game? Absolutely not.

Lots of emotions running high tonight so please don't take this as an insult. Just voicing that I'm embarrassed by our performance TONIGHT. But that doesn't erase a lifetime of happiness this team has brought to us.
