CBF40's Look at '10 recruiting

FSU has struggled to get top flight recruits that are outside of their base for the last couple years. (panhandle, gulf coast area). Hell, they are even losing kids from Lincoln which was their premier pipeline school for years and years. (TJ Bryant and Starling both signed with USC)

I am not saying to sleep on them but I do not think they are the force they once were.

oh...and OSU's success with producing DB's to the NFL is another huge plus for you guys...obviously

ps....all the same things apply to Riggs as well

Pre-summer camp:

Verbals:
LB: Scott McVey
LB/DE: David Durham
LB/DE: Jamel Turner
DE: J.T. Moore
OT: Andrew Norwell

Guesses on the rest of this class:
QB: Nick Montana
RB: Roderick Smith
WR: Tyrone Williams
OT: Andrew Donnal
CB: Lamarcus Joyner
CB: Christian Bryant
DE: Darryl Baldwin
LB: Jordan Hicks
ATH: Spencer Ware
ATH: Bobby Swigert

I would like to see a DT in this class but since no names have popped up yet I haven't added any on this list.

I would add Matt james, take of Baldwin...Probably take off Swigert too...Not sure who else to add tho...I would say another D-lineman, and probably a WR/Ath...Dyjuan Lewis, Corey Brown...just two names to throw out there...We will know a ton more around camp time, when we see what instate kids get offers...

You think they might want a TE in this class? Going into next year the only returning TE's will be DeLillo, Stoneburner & Fragel. Stoneburner is kind of a hybrid TE/WR and many think Fragel will outgrow the TE position and become a tackle. As far as I know the only offer out now is to Fiedorowicz. Welch seems to be a good candidate for an offer but perhaps they want to get a better idea of where they stand with Fiedorowicz before making any more offers.

This is the feel I get...Fiedorowicz or nobody. We passed on Smith and I think Welch is a possibility if he holds out for a late offer. As for my guess on this class:
QB: Nick Montana
RB: Roderick Smith
WR: Tyrone Williams
WR: DyJuan Lewis? (some WR)
T: Matt James
T: Andrew Norwell
T: Skylar Shoefner (I like Donnal better but this is just a hunch)
TE: Alex Welch (?)
DE: J.T. Moore
DE: William Gholston (going on a limb)
LEO/DE: David Durham
DT: Garrison Smith
LB: Scott McVey
LB: Jamel Turner
LB: Jordan Hicks
DB: Christian Bryant
DB: Lamarcus Joyner
ATH: Spencer Ware

- The rest of this class could be quite suspenseful this year. Most of my list seems to be reaches, with only Smith and Williams being close to sure things imo. Hopefully we can snag Garrison Smith because the DT class looks barren. I have 18 on my list, is that the # this year?

I am not sure on Tyrone Williams...Not sure he realy has an offer...

I think Cj or Welch at TE and I see us landing one...

I see the # being 17...

It will be interesting see which one of Schoffner/Donnal get an offer...I think one of them does, and If James goes else where, both could get offers...Like both alot, lots of athleticism and both tackles...

I just don't see us landing Garrison Smith, I would love for it to happen...

I think we have a good chance to land the guys on your list, but I am sure things will change with a couple, and we will get in on some more guys later...

What's up guys, no one thinks we have a chance with either Erick Howard or Corey Brown at RB as well? Or is there a consensus that we would rather have Spencer Ware as the 2nd RB commit?

Will Howard even get an offer? I know it's early, but we're in decent shape (at worst) with a couple RBs and we have limited schollies.

I'm not a recruiting expert at all, but that's my view on it.

Probably need to add a punter and a kicker to the list. Won't Buchanen be the only one left on scholarship after the season?

Buchanan will be the only scholarship kicker left after this year. I could possibly see them taking a kicking specialist but no way they take both a kicker and a punter. A factor in the decision of whether to take a specialist will be the quality of walkons currently in the program.
