CBF40'S Look at '09 recruiting

My guess at the remaining 11 spots based on a predicted class size of 27.

RBs : Berry & Hyde
D-line : Newsome & Muldoon (I say we miss out on Adams)
O-line : Hall & Watt
DBs : Vlad, Brown, McDougald
WR : Carter

The last one??? An ATH, I say either Green or McGee.

I think we could see a flurry on the 20th...I'd go so far as to say 4 commits on or around that weekend (best guess is Hyde, Brown, Green and Carter...all four of home should be in Columbus that weekend, if memory serves me correctly).

So that would make it the 16 verbals plus:

Berry
Hyde
Carter
Brown
Green
Adams/Ezell
Emilien
Hall
Newsome
McGee
Muldoon

That 27...and that's where we are hearing the number could end up...so I'll go ahead and agree with Oregon...Watt goes elsewhere and we end up with 3 OL in this class. No inside info, just a guess.

At this point it is hard to put a finger on the last couple spots...I am at the 27 # with you tho...

Berry, Hyde, Vlad, Brown, and Carter could all be done by the time the camp on the 20th is over...

That leaves us with 6 left...2 Glenville guys are done...And we will take one more o-lineman...Could be Watt, could be a local kid if Watt says no...

That leaves us with 3 left...I truly believe that McGee will join the class, but not till late...

That leaves us with 2...Gotta figure one of them will be a d-lineman...Probably Muldoon...

Then you got 1 left...A group of Adams, McDougald, Green, Ezell, or a 4th WR like Boyd, Debose, etc or a 2nd TE Sims or Hageman...

I am not sure if this is OT or not so please delete if not appropriate for this thread.

If we take over 25, and everything is indicating that we will from what you guys are saying, when would a guy have to enroll in school for him to count against last year's class. Would he have to enroll in Summer school or could he wait until the Fall or....

I say no more than 25 - we fans always tend to over-estimate the number of signees in any given class.

Very possible ... but the June 20th date might be a bit optimistic. That being said, it's tough for any school to go five-for-five with that kind of talent ... but I have to admit that the Buckeyes appear to be the strong leader for each of those five kids.

Probable.

I doubt that any local kid gets the fourth slot ... JMHO. If Watt goes elsewhere, then I'd say it's another three-OL class (four, if you count Justin Boren; five, if you count Reid Fragel).

I don't ... again, JMHO.

I say Tyron Ezell ... and the Bucks have a real shot. Kids who are allegedly life-long Buckeye fans (like Muldoon) generally don't wait so long to commit (Muldoon has had an Ohio State offer since early April). It could be that Muldoon is just doing his due diligence ... but the staff is doing theirs as well ... and there appear to be plenty of talented DL in the class of 2010.

I'd save a slot (or oversign) for Watt (high interest, along with ND, Michigan, and Illinois, of course), Adams (high interest, along with USC), Boyd (OSU should be a finalist), or Debose (longshot, at best).

So, here's my best guess....

RB - Jaamal Berry
RB - Carlos Hyde
FB - Adam Homan
WR - Chris Fields
WR - James Jackson
WR - Duron Carter
TE - Reid Fragel
OL - Marcus Hall
OL - Jack Mewhort
OL - Corey Linsley
DL - John Simon
DL - Melvin Fellows
DL - Tyron Ezell
DL - Jonathan Newsome
DL/LB - Zach Boren
LB - Storm Klein
LB - Jordan Whiting
LB - Dorian Bell
DB - C.J. Barnett
DB - Jamie Wood
DB - Dominic Clarke
DB - Vlad Emilien
ATH - Jordan Hall
ATH - Corey Brown

Leaving a slot open for Chris Watt (or John Martinez, if he's truly interested)
Might oversign for Corey Adams and/or Jheranie Boyd

I just don't see how prospects like Brad McDougald, Justin Green, E.J. Banks, Pat Muldoon, and Ra'Shede Hageman fit into the picture - it would be nice to find room for all of them, but it's just not possible, unless Ohio State ends up "missing" on some of the current "leans" (Carter, Berry, Emilien, Hall, Newsome, Brown, Hyde). And it always seems like some "under the radar" prospect ends up getting a late offer....

I think whoever verbals first between Brown and McDougald gets in and the other gets left out. McDougald said he wants to take visits though and Brown seems closer to making a decision. Hard to say which one will decide first but I went with McDougald since he's from Dublin.
this is one of the reasons i question mcdougald and the offer. does it have some sort of limit on it? i dont want to say the staff is strining him along but a kid growing up in columbus in the shadow of the shoe knows recruiting, hes knows osu. mangino was in on him early but i just dont see how a kid from that program doesnt pull the trigger pretty much as soon as he gets it. from two people i know hes a huge buckeye fan.

hes a pretty good bball guard also. nice combo player who has lock down defensive ability in the hs game

Looks like we all better update our "best guesses" list to include Aurora (Ohio) defensive tackle Adam Bellamy, who just received an offer from Ohio State.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was our next commit...may even happen before this weekend (I think he's scheduled to go up to Michigan then).

Good stuff here, m'Lord, but what stands out for me per your most recent installment is....no McGee. Reason? Much appreciated.

LJB has always maintained that he is less confident about McGee than others...reason being the law of averages, I presume.
