Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

Not a bad deal. Not a great deal. The Cavs trimmed some fat (Hughes and Gooden), but also put some weight back on (Wallace), while improving their perimeter shooting.

Definitely more positives than negatives IMO. Picked up a solid point guard, two bigs, and a good outside shooter.

I like this trade more than the proposed Memphis trade.

IMO, trading Hughes' Contract for Wallace's was basically a wash. Both have the same number of years, Wallace's is just worth a little more.

Most important aspect of this trade may be that we didn't give up a first round. That way, even if this trade doesn't work out at all, we didn't totally screw ourselves over.

So let's see, a young PG, a shooter, a couple big men and a draft pick ... for just about everybody on the team that consistently aggravated me? I like it. :)

I cant believe more people dont feel this way... it seemed everyone was aggrevated by Hughes and Gooden. Now we have the potential for a one year upgrade (that is all we really need so we can dump the contracts end of season) and less frustration. I cant wait to watch the new squad.

Wallace (I am praying) hopefully gets revitalized by the youth.

Good point plus we picked up a second. People really blow the second off as not a big deal but we drafted Boobie, Boozer, and Andy V were all second rounders. Just gives us another chance to land a young player.

it's not what AV does, it's what gooden doesn't.

I think it puts a lot more pressure on LeBron to score, but helps us match-up with the contenders in the east. I doubt Danny Ferry felt comfortable with a potential match-up of Gooden vs. Garnett come playoff time.

I doubt Wally brings much to the team, and Delonte West is a coverted PG without much offensive presence. I definately like our "bigs" rotation now. Just wish we could somehow take all of the pressure off of LeBron to make plays with another offensive threat outside of a shooter.

I think Wally does just that. He's a proven scorer that can actually shoot as opposed to Hughes who couldn't shoot his way out of a bathroom. As a starter, I think he could give 16-18 points a night much more consistently than Hughes ever could. Sure Hughes has been playing much better lately, but inevitably, he'll go cold again and be back to his 3-13 shooting self.

We can thank Larry Hughes for this trade. If he plays like the real Larry Hushes the last 15 games, then no one would touch him.

I think West will suprise alot of Cleveland fans that don't know his game other than to look up stats with the Sonics.

Wallace never was a shooter, but he can still rebound and intimidate in the paint, something Gooden could never do. Gooden while normally inconsistent, has really sucked the last 20 or so games. I, for one, won't miss his Casper imitation in the playoffs.

Championship*!

Seriously, I like this deal, a LOT. LBJ should too. I liked Gooden more than Hughes, but still, I didn't really give a damn about either. Losing the little boys outside doesn't bother me either, they were pretty much roster fillers.

This trade adds to what we can do offensively- and Big Ben should be a beast- hopefully at the PF position rather than a reserve C (do we really have a choice there though?).

I like Danny Ferry a lot more now.:wink2:
