What a joke. I know this isn't the end of the world or anything, but just when you finally start to think this team is headed somewhere, they blow a 4th quarter lead to the Bobcats.

CLEVELAND - The Dallas Mavericks are the NBA's stress test.
If you have a weakness, they'll find it. If you make a mistake, they'll exploit it. If they need a stop or a basket, they'll usually get it.
Which is why the mighty Mavericks have won just about 85 percent of their games this season, including a 98-90 victory over the Cavaliers on Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena.

Ilgauskas finds hook successful weapon
Veteran center refining left-handed shot, too

CLEVELAND - It lacks grace and classic technique, but Zydrunas Ilgauskas' hook shot is starting to become quite fashionable because it's going in the basket.
The Cavaliers' veteran center has been working on the move since training camp and recently has started to find success with it. In the loss Tuesday in Charlotte, Ilgauskas' sweeping maneuver, which sometimes starts not far above the waist, got him three hoops. He has been going to it, and making it, with regularity the past several weeks.

TODD PORTER
CLEVELAND Soaring through the air, body twisting and turning, LeBron James landed without his balance, which was fitting given the week his Cavaliers are having. The thud on the floor at The Q brought a gasp from an arena full of disappointed fans.
It almost was as loud as the thud coming from the team Wednesday.

Injury puts guard Gibson on ice
Big toe is recovering, but process leaves him rusty in a reserve role
By Brian Windhorst

CLEVELAND - Since he has come back from a toe injury, every night has been ice cold for Daniel Gibson. Literally.
Under doctor's orders, Gibson must soak his left big toe in a bucket of ice for 15 minutes after every game, rendering it numb. As his game recovers from two weeks off, his jumper has felt that way at times, too.
After settling in as the starting point guard, Gibson was knocked out for eight games by the injury. As is common in these situations, the team moved on and made adjustments, and sitting out cost Gibson his rhythm. For more than a week, he wasn't permitted to run, and the Cavs played so well in his absence that he didn't return to the starting lineup when he was cleared to play at the start of the week.

Cavs' win good, bad and ugly
Sloppy victory brings two-game skid to end
By Brian Windhorst
Beacon Journal sportswriter
CLEVELAND - The event at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday night needed to go on a long journey... just to become a bad NBA game.
The scrap between the Cavaliers and the New York Knicks deteriorated into a sloppy mess, with the stuff occurring on the periphery becoming more entertaining than the game itself. Yet those circumstances did not disrupt the natural order of things, as the Cavs found their way to a 90-68 pounding of the injured, tired and fast-retreating Knicks.
The Cavs (42-27), who ended a pesky two-game losing skid, certainly will take it. Combine the win with the Detroit Pistons' loss in San Antonio on Friday, and the team is quickly right back on the conference leaders' heels, down a game and a half with 14 left to play.
