Cavs 06-07 season thread

No reason to get upset...We all know we suck in the fourth quarter, can't knock down jumpers, won't go to the hole and get the free throw line. That is the reason we lost, not the refs, not the way we played the rest of the game, but it was layed out for us in black and white our problem and it is playing in the fourth quarter when the game tightens up a little bit and we need someone to step up...

Much like things are in playoff time...At this point we are going to have to improve in crunch time or we are going to continue to struggle...

I hate that people are saying this is a "defensive" team. They don't play good defense, they are just slow and they eat a lot of clock. The Suns play much better defense in my opinion - they just allow more points because they play the game at a greater pace. When the Cavs are on offense, it's four guys standing around, it's usually twenty seconds of four guys standing around and the guy who has the ball dribbling back and forth at the top of the key. Too many of those possessions are ending in contested jumpers, three-second violations, or mishandled passes that result in turnovers because the intended recipient was not ready to receive the ball. The Suns don't do any of those things, and you don't have to push the tempo of the game like the Suns to accomplish those things. You can run a halfcourt offense and still move without the ball and be ready to receive a pass at all times.

The core players of Phoenix: (2005-2006 salaries)
Marion 13.7 mil/yr
Nash 9.6 mil/yr
Raja Bell 4.25 mil/yr
Amare St 14 mil/yr
Boris Diaw 1.1 mil/yr
Leandro Barbosa 930k/yr

Cavs core (and others):

Hughes 10.2mil
Z 11.0 mil (est 2006-2007)
Snow 5.4 mil/yr
Donyell 4.8 mil
Gooden 7-8mil (neighborhood)
LBJ 4.6 mil
Amon Ones 3.5 mil
Newble 2.9 mil
Wesley 1.8 mil
Varejeo 866k

Nash at 9.6 is a steal, plus they have a team option for 2010 or 2011. The thing that sickens me the most is Bell, Diaw and Barbosa for a combined
6.25 mil. The Cavs have Snow,Newble and Wesley for 10.1 mil. Ugh! Thanks again, Paxson (although Wesley is a Ferry sign.)

Hughes is eventually going to get his shit together...

Just have faith...He has a pretty decent jumper, but just seems to be battling confidence especially due to the fact that he knows he needs to drive more, but they are giving him the jumper, so he has to take it and make it with consistency until they respect that so he can drive.

Also Hughes plays very good defense...

Looking at this basically LBJ, Varejeo are the only cheap guys on our team.

I have no problem with the Gooden signing becasue I think we will either trade him or he will continue to get better.

As for Wesley he will start to get more minutes as the season goes on and will be a vetran leader come playoff time.

Jones if he continues to hit the 3 like he has been shooting it I have no problem with his contract. If he isnt hitting tho he isnt worth the money he is getting.

Hughes - We needed him when we got him and he was the best available. Like I said above he will be helpful by seasons end as long as he doesnt get hurt again. (I know big IF)

Donyell, Z I also have no problem with.

The ones that don't make any sense are Snow and Newble. Neither is close to what they are making...

If we could get rid of tem two and a guy like Gooden we will open up a bunch of space. Also for the Suns it helps playing with Nash becasue everyone that does has career years...
