Cavs 06-07 season thread

Personally, I think Eric Snow gets a bad rep.....he does what he's supposed to...gets our offense into sets, plays solid d, and only shoots when hes wide open......Last year against the Pistons in the playoffs we were lost on the court without him....Chauncey Billups abused everyone not named Eric Snow who tried guarding him.....This team lacks an identity offensively, and it may be b/c Eric isn't a scoring threat, but I believe its a deeper issue than that.....Our offensive system is just too vanilla and we have the athletes to let loose if the reigns were taken off IMO

I just hate how damn slow the ball comes up the court with Esnow on the court and then when we need an open jumper he can't hit it and he shoots about 50% from the free throw line...

fair enough, but I don't think Andre Miller translates into more wins unless we quicken the tempo.....obviosuly you just said that you believe ESnow brings the ball up slow, but he could bring it up faster if thats what Mike Brown wanted....I believe Mike Brown wants to be the San Antonio Spurs of the East and thats what he's building for...San Antonio is a down-tempo defensive minded club, which is great, but we have far superior athletes that are more suited for running than half court sets.......I guess I'm happy Brown has made great strides defensively for this club, but at some point we need to learn how to consistently put points on the board......and we also have no killer instinct, I don't know if that goes on Borwn as well, but we never win convincingly, even when we build huge leads

You can't be a half court team with a pg that doesnt have to be accounted for unless he is 2 ft from the hole...

Thus clogging the lane and making it hard for the others to penetrate and when we arent a great jump shooting team, but that is the only way we are getting shots off it is not a good situation with a half court team and Snow as the pg...

is Andre Miller a great shooter though? You make very valid points, and I believe we'd be a better team with another PG, I just don't think ESnow is the reason we're under-achieving, and I think Snow does have value on the defensive side of the court......If we trade for Andre Miller, we better utilize his talents of pushing the ball and getting to the hoop....my biggest beef is Brown likes to slug it out when he has some of the most athletic wings in the game....and you're absolutely correct that half court sets suck without jump shooters which is why guys like Damon Jones and Sasha Pavolvich should be so successful on this club...unfortunately neither are consustent and neither can play any d......could you imagine a guy like Peja, Redd, or Allen opposite LeBron......IMO it shouldn't be the PG's job to stretch the D

It is not all about being a great shooter, it is about spreading out the defense and not letting them pack it in and I do believe Miller could hit a 15-18 footer with consistnecy as most NBA players can, but not Snow...

I also don't think we would be running and gunning like the Suns, but honestly if we could find a way to push 100 pts a nite instead of 85 by just creating more possesions we would be much better...

Also with a guy like Wild thing that would be able to run the floor Miller could find him on the break for some easy baskets...

Right now it is all about just improving the number of points we score a game. This is the reason why some of the not so good teams can play with us or beat us b/c we just can't build a lead and put a game away...

E-Snow and his offensive shortcomings, hurt more because it's one less guy for the other team to guard, and gives them one more guy they can use to double LBJ , or whomever they choose. That really, really hurts the offense on this team. We're 42 games into the season and our point guard has ZERO 3's. His defense is not nearly as good as it used to be. His only 6th on the team in steals per game!! Sorry to disagree but no way in hell should Snow be a starter on any team in the league.

Miller would be a major upgrade, regardless of his shooting. Snow's a great guy but he deserves only 12 minutes a game tops.

Exactally how I feel and I feel that Wesley is the same type of player that Snow is but is a little older but has a better jumper so I would be more apt to play him more than Snow...

I would do anything at this point to be able to unload that contract of Snow and honestly not want anything in return or someone with a contract that will be up at the end of the year and if we could ship him a deal with Gooden and Sasha then we are freeing up a ton of cap space and anyone we get in return with a contract up at the end of the year or cheap is just gravy...Throw in Newble's sorry ass for shits and giggles as well...Has anyone said how damn stupid Paxson was as a GM...

Nice article here about Paxsons deals as a gm. It hurts to read.

The good: Finding a sucker to take Shawn Kemp fat ass/contract and all(Portland)

Finding a sucker to take Ricky Davis (Boston)

Finding a sucker to take Kevin Ollie and his pathetic contract(Philly. Although we had to take Snow in return)

Tony Battie for Drew Gooden and Wild Thing.

The bad: Too much to list. You need to read the article.

LeBron has X-rays; goes on Letterman

TOM WITHERS

Associated Press

CLEVELAND - X-rays on LeBron James' sore right big toe were negative, and the Cleveland Cavaliers are hoping their superstar forward doesn't have to miss any games.
James injured his toe during the recent West Coast road trip and aggravated it during Wednesday night's double-overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. James scored a season-high 39 points - 13 in the second OT - and played 53 minutes.
