LeBron triumphs in vote

2.5 million make him No. 1 for All-Stars. No damage to right toe

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - LeBron James got two pieces of good news on Thursday, one physical and one ceremonial.
The NBA officially announced James had become the first member of the Cavaliers to lead the league in All-Star voting, garnering more than 2.5 million votes (second most all-time), to edge injured favorite Yao Ming by about 1 million votes. James will make his third consecutive All-Star start and defend his game Most Valuable Player trophy on Feb. 18 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Honestly if his big toe is hurt, he should not play much in the all-star game if at all. If he fucks it up in the all-star and has to miss time b/c of it that would be messed up...

I think if it needs rest he might as well take all-star weekend to rest it...

I would love to see Lebron rest the whole All Star break, but no way he will. If we're lucky he will only play 10 minutes of the game and not do anything else. The kid could use some rest.

Drifting Cavs seek intensity - and a win

Friday, January 26, 2007 Mary Schmitt Boyer

Plain Dealer Reporter
After their dreadful performance in a double-overtime home loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday night, one might have expected the Cavs to watch a couple of hours of film on Thursday morning and then hit the practice court for a full-fledged workout conducted by an irate coaching staff.

This game proves that Gibson needs more PT. The Sixers can't stop him. Comeback lineup Gibson, Wesley, Jones, Gooden, Marshall. Luckily Jones was on tonight 5 3's.

Exactally...Kid is going to be an all-star in two years...I am still sticking by the theory that Brown wants to save him some for the end of the season and not have him hit the rookie wall. But the way he was pushing the ball and taking it to the rack and then that big 3 he hit in the corner. Those are all the things we need out of our PG. And Hughes showed that he is coming around as well with his taking the ball to the hole...

Donyell and DJ finally came thru from behind the arc and Wesley turned in a good performance.

Really what I think our struggles have came down to is teams have been running us to death and our old guys Z and Snow can't keep up. That showed tonite that we had our best lineup when both of them were on the bench and we went the 3 guard lineup and the 2 smaller big guys in Marshall and Gooden. Not saying we can do that every nite, but Gibby needs to play more over Snow, thats for sure...

Great job Gibby. Nice showing for 22 minutes. It was a nice comeback on a night that they looked, for the most part, like they were going to be double digit losers.

I've been dogging him but 2 good shooting games in a row for Hughes. Keep driving to the hole.

Cavs on their toes

Without injured LeBron, Cavaliers rally to beat 76ers

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

PHILADELPHIA - This edition of the Cavaliers hasn't exactly been keen on taking advantage of chances in this fast-unfolding season.
Although Friday was wrapped in disheartening news, it was another such opportunity for the team. It was one they didn't let slip past.

Cavaliers game day

LeBron's status unclear

Sprained toe keeps star on bench in Philadelphia; he might need more rest

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

PHILADELPHIA - LeBron James missed his first game of the season Friday and there's a chance he may miss more time.
An X-ray and MRI revealed no structural damage to James' right big toe on Thursday. He sprained the toe last week and re-aggravated it on Wednesday night, which prompted a trip to the Cleveland Clinic instead of practice on Thursday.

Honestly I don't like our chances against the Suns, especially with LBJ struggling with that Toe injury, but I would think that we should be able to play Golden State tough at home. So I am all up for resting LBJ until Feb 1st when we go to Miami...

Maybe if Lebron was out for a few games the rest of the team would figure out how to play together like they did in the second half last night. IMO the Cavs have the talent to be a playoff team even if they didn't have Lebron. He is the one that puts them up in the title contender category. A three game break for Lebron might give him enough rest that we will see the Lebron from last season when he comes back.
The Suns game tomorrow will be a good test to see if Gibson can keep up with Nash. Look for Z and Snow to have another game of reduced minutes. I just hope Varejao can bounce back from the foulfest he had last night. The refs wouldn't give him a call against the Sixers. I'm sure we'll see a lot of the 3 guard lineup tomorrow. The only problem is that Lebron can play 4 against the Suns and I don't think the Cavs have any other 2-3 type players that can do that.

Cavaliers report

James not optimistic about playing today

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - LeBron James will be a game-time decision for the matchup this afternoon with the Phoenix Suns, but he didn't sound too optimistic about his chances Saturday.
His sprained right big toe is still bothering him, keeping him from taking part in Cavaliers' practice Saturday after he already had missed a workout Thursday and the game Friday in Philadelphia.

Cavs: Different strategies for same goal: Title

Cavs follow proven track; torrid Suns run in opposite direction

By Brian Windhorst

It isn't so much a game today at Quicken Loans Arena as a confluence of ideologies.
The Phoenix Suns are geared to run. The Cavaliers are geared to play defense. The Suns are ahead in the process, significantly so.
These are well-known facts, but they aren't the whole story.

CAVALIERS
James' status will be game time decision

Sunday, January 28, 2007 Branson Wright

Plain Dealer Reporter
There's no question that LeBron James would be on the court if today's game against the Phoenix Suns was an NBA Final.
But since it's only a regular-season game, James and the Cavs will not make a decision on his status until shortly before game time because of his sprained right big toe.
James underwent an MRI on Thursday. The results were negative but as a precautionary move, James sat out Friday's victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, one of the worst teams in the league. Today's affair is against one of the best, and it will be difficult for James to contain himself if he's on the bench.
