Cavs 06-07 season thread

Hughes has been shootin' the ball fairly well, but he is 1-11 in the first half...Hopefully he finds his shot at halftime...

Also nice first half out of Gibson, I would like to see him get a nice amount of minutes in the second half...

LBJ with 7 pts...We arent going to win if he only scores 7 in the second half...

Hughes is having one of his all time bad shooting nights at the worst time, yet he keeps chucking it up there. Gibson needs to play more.

well, your book must be color by number if stats of

1: 35%
2: 28%
3: 45%
4: 36%
5: 7%

constitutes decent shooting. it's laughable.

Like I said his 2 and 5 game werent hte best, but if you can't live with the other games and the way he is shooting from behind the arc in this series, he has shot the ball well...

LBJ is at a 41% clip in the series, and is not shooting the ball that well either...

Either way they can get back in this game if LBJ would attack the hole and do something instead of giving the ball to Donyell over and over again...

This game is a joke.

"Have your best player intentionally not score early in the game so other players can get involved" is NOT an offensive strategy. I agree that LeBron needs to wake up, but it is equally inexcusable that Mike Brown is enabling this to take place through his "coaching".

The Nets are begging the Cavs to jump back in this game, and they are doing nothing about it.

I haven't seen much of the second half, but I know the defense in the first half was atrocious. They were getting way too many easy layups, not to mention the fact that they let a player attempt (and make) a three-pointer from the same damn spot on three straight possessions.

That was just a horrible game for a close out game...This team has no killer instinct...

They had better close this game out in New Jersey, because I can only imagine how scared Brown will coach and LBJ will play...

Where the hell is the intensity as well...

The Nets have only made one shot in the fourth quarter, and the Cavs are still gonna lose big. Plus LeBron is hurt. Good job.
That ranked right up there with the worst games I've seen the Cavs ever play...dare I say on par with the '00-'03 teams. Like 40 said, if we don't close this out in NJ, I really don't like our chances. I hate to say it, but regardless of how things go from here on out, I'm gonna have a hard time supporting this team next year if Mike Brown is back. The clock is ticking to get a title before LeBron is eligiblle for FA, and it ain't gonna happen with that nitwit as a head coach.

Cavs can't cut down Nets

Momentum disappears as series heads to New Jersey for Game 6

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - It could have been a night of advancement, instead it turned into a night of atrocity.
Outclassed, outexecuted and outsmarted, the Cavaliers were smashed by the New Jersey Nets 83-72 in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Not only did the loss seriously flop the momentum, but it sent things back to the Meadowlands for Game 6 Friday night.
But the concerns over the outcome were perhaps outweighed by concerns elsewhere. At halftime of the game, LeBron James' girlfriend, Savannah Brinson, was taken out of the arena on a stretcher to seek medical attention. She is eight months pregnant with James' second son.
``I think she's OK, from the little bit of information I have,'' James said. ``It's just basketball to me. I've got a family at home I've got to worry about.''

Basically, these guys are confused

By Terry Pluto

CLEVELAND - The New Jersey Nets did three things Wednesday night that utterly confused the Cavaliers.
1. They left Larry Hughes outrageously wide open on the perimeter and dared the Cavs shooting guard to do just that -- shoot.
The result?
The rim could have sued Hughes for assault and battery, and 20,562 witnesses would have convicted him with a voice vote of boos, which echoed all over Quicken Loans Arena.
2. The Nets ran a high pick-and-roll play with future hall of famer Jason Kidd and Mikki Moore. They ran it over and over and over.
The result?
A journeyman who has been on nine teams in nine years, Moore (14 points, six rebounds) looked like he will be going into the hall of fame with Kidd. And the dazed Cavs appeared to have never seen anything like a basic pick-and-roll near the top of the key before. You almost expected them to stomp their feet and whine, ``No fair, stop! Use another play!''

Cavaliers game day

Nets have some verbal digs for Cavs

Mikki Moore is less than contrite responding to LeBron comments about New Jersey foul play

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - Out of human and/or playoff basketball nature, the New Jersey Nets' reaction to LeBron James and other Cavaliers claims of roughhousing was dismissive, and a little demeaning for good measure.
James made headlines all over by accusing the Nets of attempting to injure Sasha Pavlovic. It is classic NBA postseason fodder. The Nets followed, especially the accused, Mikki Moore, whose hard foul on Pavlovic kicked everything off in Game 4.
In his retort, he managed to brush off the claims and got a dig in at Pavlovic's manhood for the ``love tap.''
``I wasn't trying to hurt the boy,'' Moore said of Pavlovic. ``The boy went to the basket, I gave him a good playoff foul and that's it.... I didn't do anything dirty. He just jumped awkward, I bumped him, he fell. I actually don't care. If they want to take offense to a love tap, that's their problem. This is a man's sport.''

Nets believe series shifts

New Jersey players say they might have turned corner with this game

By George M. Thomas

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - Although the New Jersey Nets remain down 3-2 in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals, they sensed a shift in momentum that might give them a shot of confidence as they return to their home court Friday in East Rutherford.
For three quarters of the game, the Nets played with focused intensity, shooting a whopping 57 percent during that span, while the Cavs could only hit 38 percent.
And even when the Nets went stone cold in the fourth quarter, connecting on 1-of-15 shots, they still managed to win 83-72.
``We were pumped; we did not panic before the game,'' said forward Bostjan Nachbar, who connected on three consecutive 3-point shots early in the game to help the Nets go ahead.

I just don't understand the fight that this team has...

They don't have that killer instinct, they are a bunch of nice guys, they don't fight back, it is like they are getting bullied by the Nets...The Nets have played horrible this series which is really the reason why we are up 3-2, not b/c we have beat them playing better basketballl...

It pisses me off watching it and seeing LBJ standing around and his team getting outplayed...I don't know about most, but if that was me I think I would try and pick up my intensity, and start knocking heads, instead of being passive and continuing to let teammates piss the game away...
