Cavs 06-07 season thread

I just don't understand the fight that this team has...
Some of the blame can indeed fall on LBJ. He is the leader of this team, he needs to get on their asses if they aren't getting it done. To me though, it starts with the coach. A fucking NBA coach needs to instill that killer instinct in his team. I picture Mike Brown politely asking a fly to leave him alone instead of fucking whacking it, so there's no way he can inspire a team to put their feet on the throat of an opponent that is down.

I agree, but that is where the problem lies IMO...First off the coach is a good for nothing, besides defense...If you want him as your assistant coach as a defensive guru well then so be it, but the guy doesnt have an ounce of motivation speaking in him, and he doesnt know a damn thing about offense...

So IMO it would be time for the team of suppossedly highly competitive individuals to rise up and say fuck this douchebag, we are going to do it on our own...We will get ourselves motivated, we will look like we have intensity on the floor...IMO Brown is their buddy and not their coach and therein lies the problem, when you have a friend that you don't want to tell he doesnt know shit and to let me do this on my own...

One would hope they can band together after that. Hopefully that debacle will serve as a wakeup call.

Gilbert and Ferry had better be paying attention. This has probably been the ugliest 7-2 run in playoff history. They should have completely dismantled an injury ravaged Washington, and while it was a sweep, none of those games should have been close. They are winning on talent alone. Brown is getting outcoached at every turn, fortunately we have been able to pull several of the games out in spite of his ineptitude. Unless there is a major awakening, we are going to be completely embarrassed by Detroit. There is no way management can bring this idiot back next year after witnessing this season. Yeah 50 wins and a few playoff wins are great, but Mike Brown in incapable of taking this team to the next level. It sucks that we may have to make a coaching change yet again, would be the 3rd in LeBrons going on five seasons, but there is a very real window of opportunity here. I'm firmly convinced that if LeBron doesn't get a title before his contract is up, he'll go where he can. If that happens you can stick a fork in the Cavs franchise.

Hughes better get a Linda Lovelace tatoo next because he really sucks.

It would really help the team if their shooting guard could ACTUALLY shoot.

:!

I don't understand the hate for Larry, I can understand Snow, but it has been the move of Hughes to PG along with the emergence of Sasha that have made up for the inconsistency of scoring from the big guys this year...

I understand that he isnt the best shooter, he shoots around 38% and yes there are guys that shoot better than that in the league, and yes he makes a lot of money, but he has helped this team on both ends of the court, and it is not all about shooting percentages that make the player...

He has said that the finger he hurt last year effects his shot at times, and towards the end of the season he found a way to not let it effect his shot...

I also understand that sometimes when he is not hitting he will keep taking shots much like this past game, but when no one else is doing anything and he is there open, he is going to take the shot...he seems to be the most aggressive person on offense in this series...

I agree...This team is better than the 50 win season they had and the debacles against shitty teams, and the lack of any type of killer instinct...

maybe it's the 30-90 from the field and the fact that he has more TO's than assists at the PG spot.

His averages for the playoffs are 17/5/3...Shooting 37% from the field...34% from behind the arc and 80% from the line...

If Larry is giving us this production I will take it every day of the week...

You aint going to get that from Gibson and you aint going to get that from Snow...

I suspect part of the frustration with Hughes is a transferrance of some frustrations with LBJ. I was pissed off when Hughes was what? 2-15? But at the same time, no one else was stepping up to take the shots when the shot clock was running down. Hell, Lebron had only taken 9 shots going into the 4th quarter? He needs to have the ball in his hands every single possession. Period. It drives me nuts that he doesn't seem concerned enough to make that happen. It's hard to be pissed at the guy for being so unselfish, but damn it(!!!!), he HAS to be seeing the same thing everyone else is seeing!

Put the ball in LBJ's hands every possession and the number of shots Hughes takes will go down and the quality will go up.

It's the fact that he keep shooting even if he is having a bad night. I don't care if he's wide open if he is 1-15 quit shooting and drive to the hoop. About the only guy shooting worse than Hughes is Marshall who belongs no place close to the floor the way he played last night. If Hughes has another off night tomorrow Brown needs to give Gibson or someone more minutes. If the Net's are going to double or triple Lebron they need a couple shooters on the floor to make them pay. Snow and Hughes should never be on the floor together unless it's something like the end of game 3.

The thing is like Bucky mentioned, no one else was taking the shots, a lot of his shots were forced and not within the offense b/c it was at the end of the shot clock, or the possesion was going no where...

I would like to be able to take a look at his shots that were within rhythm off of a nice pass and his numbers wouldnt of been as bad...He has played well for the playoffs so while there were some shots when I was wishing he wouldnt of taken, it wasnt like anyone else was doing anything to try and get the offense going...The game doesnt just come to you all the time...Sometimes you have to force the action...

I wish that Larry and LBJ would switch outlooks on the game...

I agree w/ the part about the ball going nowhere....as everyone continually states, this team has no direction on the offensive side of the court.....its a friggin disgrace.....I can't count how many times I notcied everyone on offense standing around waiting for the player w/ the ball at the top of the key to make a move....or how about 2 guys running at the ball handler to set a pick, only for both to back off to avoid 2 guys setting the pick....in hind sight its actually pretty funny....how does a team this inept even have a chance at the Eastern Conference Finals.......truthfully, we need a floor leader who's extremely intelligent that can almost serve as coach to try and remedy this abortion......that or find a PG who can break his defender down at will so we can at least create some "O" while evryone else watches and waits

if 37% from the field and a less than 1:1 assist to TO ratio is acceptable to you from your starting Pg, then you would be pleased with the mediocrity of this team. those numbers are simply unacceptable from a starting pg in the playoffs period. now continue your string of hughes excuses.

Not to pile on CB40, but he thinks Vick is a good QB too. :p

Well I guess we will just agree to disagree...I am in no way making excuses...I think the number are ok, for what his role is on this team...There is more to basketball than the fg% and asst/to ratio...
