Game Thread Buffalo Bulls at tOSU, Aug 31, 12 ET, ESPN2

Soooo much experience and leadership to replace, particularly on defense. Going undefeated in one season is a remarkable achievement. Two years in a row is damn near impossible...even if this roster hadn't lost as much as it did. Young team, gonna take some lumps, but they're gonna be a lot of fun to watch as the season moves along. Too much talent not to be.

People that came into this season with a NC or bust attitude are gonna be worn out by October.

I thought it was telling when Meyer named eight captains. If you have that many, then it probably means you haven't had any true leaders emerge yet. Hopefully a few in the group step up fast, and it doesn't cost them too much while we wait.

I disagree with this because I can't call the 2 losses. Name the 2 losses and then I'll consider it.
Almost every team drops one or two as the season goes on, many times to unexpected opponents. How many undefeated teams have there been in the last decade? When's the last team a BCS conference team did it back to back? I can't point to any 1 or 2 particular games and say "that's a loss", but given what we lost from last year (and I think some folks are really underestimating some of it), that's just the odds.

Expecting an undefeated season is a tall task, and, to me, limits the enjoyment of the season. But, to each their own.

We learned a lot today. Linebacker and CB depth could kill us. The d-line is not quite the backbone of the defense as I imagined. On the offensive side, I feel good with everything except Decker. Almost every sack and pressure on Braxton was coming from that right side. He just needs to be a little more active.

On the good side, I think Dontre will be really special, and I feel really good at the pure RB position. Braxton's passing game is about what I expected, just a little better than last year. I think he's going to have to expect running/scrambling a little more. Kenny G still has it. I feel really good about the offense, with the exception of Decker.

If there is an 85% chance to win in each game, the most likely outcome for the season is 12-2 or thereabouts.

Predicting a loss in any specific game is folly, and behind that is the level of thinking that builds billion $ casinos. (And I'm not talking about the level of thinking of the casino owners)

Predicting zero losses is worse

Ohio Stadium won't go back to natural grass (multiple reasons), but at least when they replace the current FieldTurf they can install the cooling system Maryland installed (newer technology from FieldTurf).

This is Year 7 with the current turf. So it won't get replaced for 3-5 years (give or take).

I want to re-watch the game but the D did pretty well shutting down the Buff's running game. I do not have the stat's in front of me but around 3 ypc, maybe less. I was concerned about a lack of pressure but the bulk of the throws by the QB were three step drops and throwing out into the flat. Hard to get pressure that way. Finally, at least two of the scores came off of turnovers. One was the pick six and the other came on short field position.

Question: Does anybody know why Linsey left the game? Things seem to struggle on Offense after he left.
