Game Thread Buffalo Bulls at tOSU, Aug 31, 12 ET, ESPN2

Just really don't know what to make of this game. Game 1 so there is going to be some rust. How good is Buffalo? If they are a middle of the road MAC team then Ohio State SHOULD have hung 60 on them. Style points matter. No more of this a W is a W. Last year if Ohio State had been eligible I think they would have been on the outside looking in at the NC game. Could be the same this year. Close games or mediocre performances against a WEAK Big 10 and they won't get the nod over undefeated or even 1 loss SEC teams.

Also, Braxton looks just like he looked last year. No difference that I could see today. Decker needs a ton of work in pass pro.

I thought Braxton looked way better throwing the football.

You're crazy if you think any one loss team gets in over an undefeated Ohio State, SOS be damned.

Please say a Columbus news station took the temperature of the field at Ohio Stadium prior to kickoff. Had to be 105 easy.

I wish Stats Inc. kept that stat for August/September games (average temp at kick of field level).

First quarter Miller looked much improved passing, standing tall. Later he kinda went back into his slump. Who knows maybe the coaches told him to not take off and run. When he did run, he needed to just GO and not dance taking sack for loss.

Braxton looked a ton better than he did last year.

They looked real rusty outside of the scripted plays. But no where as incompetent as last year. If they can get the few issues they had solved, they will be beastly by the time the Big Ten season rolls around.

I think the defense was better than we give em credit for... The offense did not help them out when they gave them a pick six, a fumble in their own territory, and failing to convert on 4th and 1. All of that with Roby, Barnett, and Shazier out for stretches of the game.

The good if Braxton can play like he did 1st quarter a whole game. Watch out. He was a diff Qb after the cramping started.

Wilson learned a valuable lesson. He will break some long ones.

Taylor Decker looked lost but I think the guy he went up against would make alot of people looked lost.

Reeves looked terrible hate the soft coverage.

Eze you got to make that catch. Little experience I think he does.

Jordan Hall is going to be tough to take out the lineup.

C.Grant I think made a big step a few mistakes but I think he will be really good by mid season.

Noah had some real nice plays needs consistency.

Washing expected more.

The WR looked light years ahead of last year. Open quite often and kept moving after a play broke down.

Kenny G I love this guy. Think he could be a real good starter for alot of College teams this year.

D.Wilson play smarter thou he caused 14 points the score wouldn't have been close with out his two mistakes. Really suprised how many Freshmans where on the field. Bosa looks like a Simon clone with better size. Trey Johnson was out their surprisingly when Shazier went down (after hearing nothing about him in camp). I can say this we will not beat Alabama with the secondary getting 66% of the tackles.

Very happy we got freshmans game time. Can't wait for Roby to get back because that soft coverage drove me nuts. I've never seen so many 3-5 yard passes in my life.

Also add Khalil Mack to players I want the Lions to draft. This guy was a beast and made Taylor Decker, R Blocking Rb and Braxton look silly at time.

Jeez, how about we not get ahead of ourselves here people.

We played one game in what seemed to be very hot weather. The defense gave up 13 points (and one of those drives they started at what our 40?). We had numerous guys out with cramps, and varying other issues.

We played a very bland game on offense. Why show some of the tricks up the sleeve against Buffalo? However, the O-line needs a LOT of work. Especially at RT. Defensively, I hope in the future we make adjustments to play more press on the WR's. Too much cushion IMO, and that's what led to a couple of longer drives by Buffalo. I'm confident we will adjust in the future.

Enough of this NC, undefeated and outside looking in stuff. We played one game. Still a lot more ball to be played.

Oh, and if you don't think Braxton looked better, are you sure you were watching the same game?

The best part about being 1-0, is the chance to go 2-0

GO BUCKS!

the obvious:
Decker & Armani got handled today (altho bewildered why they didn't double Neutz when Armani had him)
Wonder why they didn't use a TE to help
DEs did not earn their accolades today
DTs did work
C Grant was OK but brought back memories of last yr - he better stay healthy .. Mitchell may not give spot back
Linsley was excellent.. guards had a nice day
Who was the #15 with the penalties?
Johnston (P) underwhelmed
Thank you Jordan Hall.. and thank you middle of that line...
Roby - we missed you big time

Really I think C.Grant looked pretty good and passionate.
The rest I agree with besides Noah. He looked elite at times consistency will be the key for him.
