Bruce Hooley - Biggest Idiot now back on the radio in Cleveland

Seems like Bruce is still a little bitter about getting shitcanned based on his latest article for fox sports.

They share a common border and an all-consuming passion for their collegiate sport of choice, and tonight Ohio State and Kentucky will share the floor at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., with a berth in the Elite Eight on the line.

Other than the Ohio River, there isn?t much that separates these two schools when it comes to their chosen obsession -- Wildcats? basketball for UK, and Buckeye football for OSU.

No one gives a shit about UK football.....OSU basketball sells out an NBA style 20000 seat arena.

what a fuckstick. I would call OSU basketball a perennial top 25 team. I would call UK football not a perennial top 25 team.

While I think Hooley is a douchebag, and I rarely if ever agree with anything that comes out of his mouth, I find it wrong for WBNS to fire him over calling JT out. Pussy move & I'm never a fan of censorship.

Was Hooley harsh? Hell yeah. Was he wrong? ...

you really think that hooley was let go just because of his behavior over the last few months? c'mon now, s&g.

edit: i'll also add that it's one thing to be critical or even overly harsh and it's quite another to travel about the nation from radio program to radio program in order to share his unmitigated glee over the program's issues.

In my opinion, right or wrong doesn't matter in this case. As LJB explained, this is capitalism at work, not censorship. With all the media outlets spewing their OSU vitriol, most Buckeye fans wanted a local perspective of a fan with more access. We'd like to hear from a person with at least a passing affinity for the school. Instead, we got gloating and restrained jubilation. It was enough to make enough fans decide to no longer listen.

Many of us had been annoyed by Hooley for a long time. It was the kind of hate that boils while listening in the car, and then subsides when other issues of the day take relevance. This case, however, was something that stuck and made people want to take action. We'd been hammered by every talking head imaginable, and hearing the OSU flagship station basking in the tribulations was too much.

People spoke with their wallet/radio dials. WBNS would play the "Best of Hooley" all day long, if it got ratings and advertising dollars. He was fired, because he no longer had consumers and the station would suffer. It doesn't get any more American than that.

I thought he was gone the day after his rant... not when ratings came back in a week later and WBNS saw that everyone turned their dials..

I agree with you, I turn the dial whenever Speilman isn't on with him.. can't stand him. Really getting tired of the Common Man & Torge too.. with all the Buckeyes in the media, can't believe that these guys.. Hooley, Common Man, Torge.. are the best WBNS can do.

I was under the impression that his tirade on air was the reason he got a vacation, and then ultimatley dismissed. Was there something else going on?

I was unaware he was doing this.

1) which resulted in a lot of listeners saying they were done with the show, and not only that, but many OSU fans complaining by email to the head honchos and getting replies that they agreed with said fans and were looking into the matter. Hence capitalism as the other two are explaining.

2) his infamous tirade wasn't on his show, but on finebaum's. Hooley has ALWAYS displayed jubilant glee anytime Tressel fails or an off field incident surfaces. Folks finally had enough.
