Bill O’Brien (HC Boston College, aka BillyBob O’Buttchin et al)

Rutgers is not hiring anybody any of us have ever heard of before, because they're both cheap and stupid. The only reason Kyle Flood (Who? Exactly!) is the head coach is because Mario Cristobal laughed his ass off at Rutgers' offer of $500k a year. Only last year after Rutgers stepped up to the Big Ten did they give a Flood an extension and a raise ... all the way up to a whopping $950k.

Good FBS assistants make more than that.

Plus, O'Brien leaving Penn St to work for Bob McNair and Rick Smith, then leaving that to work for Julie Hermann would be the most hilarious cycle of trying to escape a bat-[Mark May] crazy partner only to jump into the arms of someone crazier. The next logical step would be for BO'B to coach the Redskins two years after that.

If O'Brien is coaching college football next season, it won't be in the Big Ten.
Yeah, I don't think he'll actually be coaching at Rutgers or Maryland. I was just envisioning the glorious meltdowns that would happen at BWI under that circumstance.

I don't know if he has any interest in returning to the college game but I thought he was a good fit in the B1G the two years he coached at PSU. It will be a shame if he goes on the market and there's not a suitable opportunity for him in the conference. (Any chance Nebraska would cut bait with Riley? Probably not.)

I also don't know what the coaching landscape in the NFL is like. Maybe he's coaching another pro team next year.

Why would it be "a shame" if he doesn't coach in the B1G?

Fuck O'Brien. He elected to coach at a school that tolerated child sex abuse in its athletic facilities over a period of twenty years. I couldn't care less what he elects to do, though I grant you he's a good enough coach. Personally, I think he'd fit right in at Da U.

I don't hate O'Brien for taking the pedster job. If anything, your ire should be directed at the NCAA and Big Ten for not nuking the program, creating a situation where somebody had to take the job. He had nothing to do with the university or Paterno before that, and he certainly didn't do anything to fan the fires of the cult (unlike Franklin). In fact, the slam at the cult that he took on his way out the door was spectacular.

That being said, I could care less what the guy does or doesn't do.

So, on a whim, I went and found this thread.

New rule......same as the old rule:
I am creating a rule for this thread: every post with a reference to Billybob O'Buttchin must contain a unique name with the initials B.O'B.

Every time someone posts in this thread without a new B.O'B name, it's a dingable offense.

Hey, it's about time I did something moderator-like.
This applies to any reference of Barnacle O'Bindledick in any thread. Keep it nice and clean in the recruiting forum. Nothing changes, even if his employer does.

I huge congratulations to all of us for letting this thread sit idle for so long.
