Once again thanks for everyone getting their polls in and thanks to Best Buckeye for all the help...
Here is what i had as a poll and some comments to go along with it...
MSU (Most experienced team, and still hold their game against UCLA as best anyone in the confrence has played)
IU - Young but talented, XU tough, but early season
Purdue - Young but talented, but at the time being they looked best of any team that did lose in the big ten challenge against a solid Clemson team.
PSU - They actually won in the challenge
ILL - Put up a good fight against Maryland, and played good against Dook a couple weeks ago
Wisky - Solid team, but looked horrible against Dook.
Minn - Looked solid against FSU
tOSU - Man just so upsetting, but there is no where to go but up.
Iowa - Not looking too good...
NW - Drilled by UVA...
Michigan - Lost to Harvard, nuff said...

What I sent, just for fun...here is what I sent in....I added the comments for this post....
Indiana - when they figure out the defensive end, this is the best team in the Big Ten.
MSU - As long as they have Drew Neitzel, they aren't out of any discussion. Best defensive team in the Big Ten.
Wisconsin - Wisconsin is Wisconsin, they have huge stumbling white guys and play the weave offense, they'll be one of the better teams in the Big Ten but will lack that one guy who would put them over the top.
Illinois - a hedge, Illinois is better than Ohio State or Purdon't right now, but will they be later on??
Ohio State - I didn't want to drop them too far because this is a very young team, but the improvement has to start showing this week or this might be the 8th place team in the Big Ten next week.
Purdon't - Another team that might be due for another good look. They seem to be taking to the system and will make some noise in the Big Ten.
Minnesota - Tubby will bring this team 5 or 6 wins it wouldn't have otherwise gotten. The talent levels, however, aren't quite up to par yet.
Iowa - should be better, maybe next year.
Michigan - Might be a sleeper next year and will probably end up winning a game or two it shouldn't but this isn't anything more than the 9th place team in the Big Ten.
Penn State - As a program, Penn State should be better at basketball, but the sport isn't emphasized, and they will continue to bring up the rear.
Northwestern - that's all right, that's ok, you'll end up working for us someday.....or wait isn't that what Duke says in football???

I have three tiers for the teams right now and in those tiers the teams are pretty much interchangeable... difference from team to team in each tier is consistency and experience:
Tier 1
1. Michigan State - Most consistent team in the Big10 and playing some good ball
2. Indiana - MSU's experience beats out Indiana's raw talent.
Tier 2
3. Wisconsin - Deserving of their 23 ranking as they are getting good consistent production on both sides of the ball
4. Illinois
5. Ohio State - Struggled on putting Illinois ahead of OSU but the Bucks have only put together one good game against a competent team (Syracuse). Once they become consistent from half to half they'll most likely move up. If they continue to only play one half of ball then Purdue may jump them.
6. Purdue
Tier 3
7. Minnesota
8. Penn St.
9. Michigan
10. Iowa - Thought about putting them at the bottom after their bad OT loss at home but couldn't move NW from that spot.
11. Northwestern
Tier 1
1. Michigan State - Most consistent team in the Big10 and playing some good ball

TIER 1:
Michigan State - Solid game against UCLA, very nice win against NCSU - three frosh in the nine-man roation, this team is going to be even better by the end of the season
Indiana - The loss to Xavier led to the 4th place in the previous rankings, but a win over GT and a road win over Southern Illinois paired with the showings of those ahead of them loed to the move up. This Gordon fellow seems to be a pretty decent player. Anyone ever heard of him? :p
Wisconsin - Ugly loss to Duke, but that isn't a very good matchup for the Badgers. Can't really hold that against them. Drop due mostly to impressive performances by MSU and IU. OSU's big men could learn a lot of lessons from the Badgers big men. The Badgers would eat OSU alive right now.
TIER 2:
Illinois - Respectable game at Duke, impressive win over an on-and-off Okie State team, and another respectable loss at Maryland. Move up is due to OSU's drop
Purdue - Took a decent Clemson team to the wire....pretty much all I got here. Move up due to OSU's drop and Minnesota's loss.
Ohio State - Don't think they are a bottom-feeder just yet, but consistency has to come around. And soon. They way they are playing right now, they could lose to any one of the other B10 teams.
Minnesota - Beat up on the cupcakes, but lost by 14 to FSU. Still well ahead of the four bottom-dwellers, and could jump OSU if the Bucks continue to struggle.
TIER 3:
Penn State - Win over virginia Tech puts them ahead of the other 3 in the lowest tier, but the losses to Rider, UCF, and St. Joes keep them from even getting close to the middle tier.
Iowa - Four straight losses, 3 at home. Only one player averaging more than 8 points. Yikes. At least they're in the same conference as Michigan and NW.
Michigan - The loss to BC wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be, but when it's sandwiched by losses to WKU and Harvard. Ooof. Atta boy Amaker!
Northwestern - No number of 20 point victories over cupcakes can make up for the loss at Brown and 42 point blowout to the Hoos. Ouch. Another long season for the Wildcats.

Indiana--almost put Wisconsin here... need to see them against a better team

my rankings this week....
Indiana - still have shown me enough to think that not only is this the best team in the Big Ten, it is also one of the bigger sleepers in the country. The Kentucky win doesn't look as good as it once did, but a win is a win.
MSU - a 20 point win over IPFW isn't enough to move them up, but they won't move down anytime soon either.
Wisconsin - Well at least they established who the best team in Wisconsin actually is.....but while nice and a good rebound from a couple tough games, Wisconsin isn't close to MSU or Indiana yet.
Purdon't - probably the high water mark of the season for Purdon't, but that win over Louisville was as good as any by a Big Ten team this week.
Illinois - No games this week, so they dropped a bit since Purdon't won against a quality opponent. this team lacks something although I'm having issues putting my finger on it quite yet.
Ohio State - a crappy win and a good win against a crappy team. It wasn't hard to keep Ohio State slotted right here for now. This week will give us a view on how much they've improved.
Minnesota - a win is a win, but SDSU isn't enough to move them up. Don't look now, but this might be the 7th team in for the big Ten in the tournament this year....
Penn State - Back to back relatively (for Penn State) impressive wins moves them ahead of Iowa and scUM this week.
Splitting these last 3 up has been difficult....
Iowa - you don't lose to Drake if you are a Big Ten team. ESPECIALLY if you are someone like Iowa. Good luck winning more than your games against Northwestern this year Hawkeyes....

Sure the win against Oakland was ummmmmm yeah, but losing by 11 to Central MIchigan?? It wasn't even that close honestly. Be glad Northwestern exists so you don't own the cellar.
Northwestern - That's all right, that's ok, you'll be working for us someday. Keep repeating it.....

The goood news is that we had two quality wins against Ken. and L'ville and that speaks worlds for B10 BB. I enjoyed those wins as much as seeing scum lose by ten or so to central, and it wasn't that close.

I agree with everything you said, Mike, except this; no way I see 7 teams from the B11 in the Dance this season. Right now, I'd see only IU, MSU, Wisky and Purdue, with maybe Illinois on the bubble. We could see a 4-berth season for the B11 this year.BuckeyeMike80;1029587; said:

Outside of the 4 big teams this year (Memphis, UCLA, North Carolina and Duke), the rest of the NCAA BB world is not on the level it was even last year.
Virtually all of the remaining undefeated teams except UNC have shown weaknesses in areas that other lesser teams will be able to to exploit.
The Big Ten is at least a 6 bid conference right now. Virtually all of the mid-majors are one bid leagues as well.
