Big Ten Power Rankings

These rankings are an opinion and each person is entitled to their own. Personally I don't think the Bucks are playing up to their potential right now. And sometimes it seems as though they take stretches of games off, especially coming out of halftime. And as stated earlier they don't seem to have meshed together as a team.

My opinion? No matter what the current struggles I can't put tOSU behind a 11-15 (4-9) Iowa team, or a 15-9 (5-7) Minnesota or any of the dregs that appear beneath them in the Conference standings. I am just as dissapointed as anyone else with the loss today, but I am not about to say that they are the 7th or 8th team in the conference. But that is just my opinion, to each their own.

No one is stopping you, you can submit your own rankings.
I pm them to cbf40 but if you want them here they are:

Purdue
Wisconsin
Indiana
MSU
Ohio State
Minnesota
Iowa
Michigan
PSU
Illinois
Northwestern

I do not think that the weasels could be us on a neutral court even though they are improving. Every team that I have ranked below Ohio State I believe we can beat them and play on a more consistent basis that they do. Our RPI and SOS is higher than any of the teams that I have ranked below us even after our lost today. I think in the Big 10 any team can beat any other team and the determining factor in most instances would be where the game was played. I guess we shall see come Big 10 tournament time.

8th?

To me, this isn't like football. A loss isn't that big a deal and movement in the rankings should always be very slight. I've had OSU at 5 for a while now, and there they stay until they do something really good for a couple of games in a row, or they do something dreadful for a number of games in a row.

Mine mirror yours almost exactly with the only difference being a flip flop of Illinois and Penn St. I might be giving them too much credit based upon the emotion of the whole Gordon vendetta, but Illinois has had a pulse lately and PSU just hasn't been the same since the Claxton injury. Things could also get very strange in the conference if DJ White's injury causes him to miss any time, especially with a showdown coming up this week with Purdue.

RPI and SOS only mean so much.

They haven't beaten anyone with a pulse this year. Their best win is against Syracuse, currently the 9th place team in the Big East.

They struggle on the road against everyone BUT the worst teams in the Big Ten. When they get down they both give up on themselves (Kellogg was talking about Koufos dropping his head virtually all game) AND start forcing things.

And I DO think Michigan would win on a neutral court right now. They took one of Ohio State's best efforts in a half today in the first half and STILL found a way to win by 10. Same with Iowa actually RIGHT NOW. We will see about Minny, but given that they shoot nearly 38% from 3 (Michigan was only shooting 32%) that will be a long distance game too.....

This isn't good. The expectations were WAY too high to begin the year, myself included. Freshman come along at their own pace and Ohio State's learning curve hasn't caught up yet.

You really think that's a typical UM performance? Also, you make it sound like a great half is unusual from OSU... playing half a game is the status quo in many national TV games.

IMO they just did , BKB, . Right now they do not look as good a team as anyone but the bottom dwellers. Scum is playing very well as shown in their last two games and that alone puts them above us. I had them at 5 also until I watched the B10 ganes this week and 8th is where I think they fit.

I would like to know how many teams in any conference do not struggle in conference road games. How many road games have the weasels won this year? I will admit that they did beat Iowa this past week but we beat Illinois and PSU on the road. Not much difference if you ask me.

Yes they took our best shot in the first half but you forgot to mention the fact that we also had quite a few turnovers which they got some points off plus I don't think we shot many free throws in the first half.

When Kellogg was talking about is that KK gets down on himself after missing some easy shots or when there is a bad entry pass which resulted in a turnover. He was not talking about the entire team.

You have your opinion and I have mine. You're also stretching it when you say the beat us by 10 points. The majority of those 10 came when we were trying to catch up at the end of the game.

I would give them some credit for the Florida win as well. UF will be a tourney team based on the fact that they will win 20 games, the SEC is down and they are the two time defending champs.

TSUN has certainly improved since earlier in the season, but there was only one way to go for them as awful as they were early. But in your rankings you call Iowa as the most improved team in the Big 10?

Their last 3 games:

Wisconsin...................Loss
@ Minnesota...............Loss
TSUN.........................Loss

And this is the vastly improved team RIGHT NOW that can beat tOSU on a neutral court? I'm sorry I just don't see it.

I understand a lot of us are dissapointed with todays loss but ranking tOSU below TSUN just because they have won three in a row? The same team that had won 3 of their previous 17? Upsets happen, Super Bowl 42 anyone? Thats what today was, an upset. And the TSUN surge included wins over a Penn St. team at home that packed it in this season long ago, and at an Iowa team who, in my opinion, is not very good.

Expectations certainly were too high for this team this season, as Kellogg said during the game today. Has there ever been a team that lost 3 freshman to the first round of the NBA draft? I don't think so. Yes they are missing some key components, a true PG and a defensive presence in the post come to mind, but this team has still done some good things and still has a chance to have a good end to the season. Don't write them off just yet and sorry but I can't see the comparisons to the worst teams in the conference.

Where did I rank Ohio State below Michigan?

There is a difference between struggling when the other team is playing well and struggling because your team tends to play like a group of individuals.....

Yes they took our best shot in the first half but you forgot to mention the fact that we also had quite a few turnovers which they got some points off plus I don't think we shot many free throws in the first half.

Ok and what's your point?

When Kellogg was talking about is that KK gets down on himself after missing some easy shots or when there is a bad entry pass which resulted in a turnover. He was not talking about the entire team.

The point here is that he SHOULD HAVE been talking about the entire team. Watch that second half again, when the shots stopped falling, only Turner and Butler were being aggressive. The rest of the Buckeyes were standing around and waiting for someone else to make a play.

You have your opinion and I have mine. You're also stretching it when you say the beat us by 10 points. The majority of those 10 came when we were trying to catch up at the end of the game.

What was the score again? 80-70 scUM? Thank you goodnight.....

That was directed at others who have stated they have tOSU ranked 8th, but you did say this correct?

I DO think Michigan would win on a neutral court right now

Doesn't that mean you believe TSUN is better than tOSU right now?

9. scUM - Sure they beat Iowa and Ohio State, but unfortunately that's not saying much at this point.

So you have tOSU ranked above TSUN, then you later say that TSUN would beat tOSU on a neutral court. You call Iowa the most improved team in the Big 10, yet you say beating them is not much in regards to TSUN. Seems like you have contradicted yourself on more than one occasion.

My point was I don't see a 11-15 Iowa team who is on a three game losing streak as an improved team at all, yet you rank them as 5th in the Big 10? And call them a greatly improved team? Do you really believe Iowa is a better team than tOSU or are you just extremely disappointed in losing a game to TSUN for the first time in 4 years?

?
That would be me Nasty , I ranked them 8th, and after the games i saw this last 7 or 8 days that is just where they belong. Even for a team that lost 3 kids to the NBA 1st round last year, at this stage of the season they should be playing beter than they are. Or dare I say , Better than Scum?
