Big Ten Power Rankings

1. Purdon't - by both default and by result. We'll see what happens when they play Indiana though...

2. Indiana - that win against Ohio State was exactly what they needed. People were doubting them and their schedule up too now.

3. Wisconsin - Can't handle success

4. Michigan State - Without Drew Neitzel this team isn't even NIT bound IMO.

5. Ohio State - They are here because they aren't better than any of the teams ahead of them, yet they aren't horrendous either. I still think they get into the NCAAs if they win the games they should AND get a Big Ten tourney win.

6. Minny - least horrendous of what is left. Tubby will get this team back into something resembling a competitive program though.

7. Iowa - I guess.....they've improved and with Penn State's injuries that game will decide the all-un-important 7th spot.

8. Penn State - see above

9. Illinois - Had Indiana on the ropes but couldn't finish them off.

10. scUM - only because they've beaten Northworstern....

11. Northworstern - they hung with Michigan State a lot longer than I expected them too.

Agree for the most part with your rankings and especially your comments however I would have to do PSU down to 10 and as much as I hate it move scUm up to #9. I also don't have that much respect for Indiana and I have put Sparty at the #2 slot. Neitzel is just going through a slump and their big guys can hang with anyone. Maybe I am wrong but I just think MSU is better than Indiana. I guess we shall see.

Ok here they are for this week...Couple new guys this week and a couple others with no rankings this week...I still owe rep for last week, and I will also get it for this week as well...We had 11 rankings this week...

1. Purdue - 118 - They just continue to win and sit atop the big ten standings

2. Indiana - 108 - They didn't look impressive in either win, but road wins are road wins none the less...

3. MSU - 99 - Continue to be steady, but still losses against PSU and Iowa are keeping them from being the front runner...

4. Wisky - 84 - Losing at home even tho to Purdue really hurts...

5. tOSU - 76 - Like many have said by default...Still on the brink, but the season is running out and we are 0-7 against top 25 teams, at some point we just have to get over the hump...

6. Minny - 65 - Best of the rest I guess...

7. Iowa - 51 - I had them ahead of Minny, as they have won much bigger games than Minny...

8. Illinois - 47 - They had their chance against Indiana, but once again their free throw shooting killed them...

9. PSU - 30 - Playing decent even tho they have injuries...

10. scUM - 27 - improving I guess...

11. NW - 12 - Just arent very good...

Particpants...Best Buckeye, litlbuck, bb73, nastydogg72, mooktarr, hundedlane, bkb, bkochmc, CBF40, bucyrus, buckeyemike80...

my fault on not getting mine in, been busy with a lot of other things. I'll be back next week

though, I would say that my personal rankings are exactly how the ones from this week panned out anyway.

thanks for all the great work cbf40 and best buckeye!

This is how I would have had them if I would have submitted my rankings, which I didn't, thus rendering these somewhat of a moot point in regards to the tabulated rankings, but still mildly relevant as discussion forum fodder. :p

1. Purdue - win @ Wisconsin - very impressive
2. Wisconsin - two losses, both to Purdue, and has defeated Indiana soundly
3. Indiana - struggled against OSU, Illinois
4. Michigan State - Can't believe who their two B10 losses are against. :
5. Ohio State - *sigh* status quo....
6. Iowa
7. Minnesota
8. Illinois
9. Penn State
10. Michigan
11. Northwestern

Well here is my fodder I do not understand why people keep on putting PSU over scUm even though they did beat at home and again maybe that is why. Okay, I still think Indiana is a little overrated even though they did beat us at home. I do not think that their guard play is very strong. An interesting game tonight is MSU at Purdue. After that, I think we will have a better idea of who should be in the #2 slot.

Props to Purdue. They are younger than our Buckeyes but seem to be getting more out of their talent. They play very well as a team. I will be interested in seeing what happens when they play in the tournament because they are very aggressive defensively been many times officials are not that lenient when it comes to the NCAA tournament especially in 1st and 2nd round games. After that, they just usually let the teams play. IMO

Why do you guys think this is happening? Since we have one the best coaches around then it must be team chemistry or stamina. Any other thoughts?
