Big Ten Power Rankings

My rankings this week.......

1. Wisconsin - they've taken care of their business on the road - not a small accomplishment in the Big Ten.

2. Indiana - even with the uncertainty they might experience with the head coaching situation, this is still the most talented team in the Big Ten.

3. Purdon't - Really had a chance to take control of the Big Ten race with a win at Indiana but couldn't get it done. Now we have to wonder, are all of the young players who have driven Purdon't to this level starting to hit the wall?? We will see.....

4. Michigan State - A team that clearly needs another scorer. This team could be a sleeper in the Big Ten Tourney though.

5. Minnesota - I am starting to wonder if this team can possibly sneak into the tournament if they can beat at least Ohio State or Purdon't plus winning at game in the Big Ten tournament.

6. Ohio State - the talent level and the game performance just aren't matching up right now for some reason. The last 4 games are brutal and unless they win at least 2 of them they aren't going anywhere.

7. Iowon't - Way to come out flat against Michigan State.

8. Penn State - You're Penn State, you should be better at basketball.

9. scUM - They lost at Minnesota but came back to beat Illinois. Not a horrible week for a bad team.

10. Illinois - way to finish strong by losing 6 of their last 7

11. Northworstern - They had Iowon't and Indiana on the ropes and couldn't finish them off.

Right now I have 4 teams getting in to the NCAAs and I'm not willing to bet who is going to get into the NIT at the moment.

I agree with you rankings except for the fact I might put Michigan State at the #2 slot because I think they are starting to improve. I think the situation in Indiana is starting to take its toll though we will know more about that next week.

I would also put Michigan above Iowa and put Penn State and Iowa in a tie.

The deal is , the way I see it, is that I couldn't make a guess as to which team if any would make it past the first or second round of the Dance.
Their just isn't a team I could say is strong enough to do that. I think Wisc could just because of their D but the others lose as easily as they win. I'll add Pur just for kicks but thats about it.

I think we will have at least 2 or 3 playing in the second weekend of the tourney...Of course a lot will depend on matchups as it always does, but IU, MSU, Purdue, and Wisky all have a guy that can get them a bucket when needed and play good D...The only team I might question on getting them a bucket when needed is Wisky, but they are very dicisplined offensively and get themselves good looks...

I realize that they have the strentgh to go that far and even farther. I just don't know if they will be good enough to do it. MS beat Ind today something like 107 - 77 what does that say about the Hoosiers?

WE might have two or three get to the second round and we might not have any. That is the problem, I just don't know.
