Buckeyes follow vocal leaders
BY JON SPENCER | THE MANSFIELD NEWS JOURNAL
COLUMBUS - Most of Buckeye Nation doesn't know this - not even the coaches - but Ohio State's football players apparently talk as good a game as they play.
Every Thursday during the season turned into a "Night at the Improv," with the four senior captains talking about whatever popped into their heads during the weekly players-only meeting.
Sometimes the subject matter was serious. Other times, it became a stand-up routine meant to lighten the mood.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda... Smith wasn't ready at the start of the season in 05. He was this year and therein lies the difference. If ever you needed an example of which position is the most important to a football team this is certainly one that makes the case for quarterback.

id say the 05 team is about equal to the 06 team but in my opinion the 05 team at the end of the year could of beat USC or texas. 06 defense causes more turnovers and seems to have a better pass defense, but gives up more on the run. 06 offense has some new weapons and limitless depth and experience.

Florida looks to find a way to conquer Troy

RUSTY MILLER, Dec 27, 2006
Twelve teams this year have tried and failed to shut down Ohio State's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, Troy Smith. Next up: No. 2 Florida. What the Gators do to hem in Smith and how Ohio State reacts will likely determine the winner of the national championship game on Jan. 8 in Glendale, Ariz. "Pretty much the same ways that the average defense tries to stop any offense," Smith said when asked...

Speed in feet of beholders as Buckeyes travel fast as Gators

By MATT MARKEY
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

Brandon Mitchell has heard the endless drumbeat of comments before, that the athletes from a certain part of the country are so much faster than their counterparts.

But no sale here. The senior safety for top-ranked Ohio State isn't buying it. Mitchell, a native of Georgia, thinks such a line of thinking is all just parochial braggadocio.

From that article,
"The credit goes to our coaches putting in good game plans and it goes to Troy for having that knack for always finding the open player," Gonzalez said. "What would they (the Gators) have to do? I'd say they have to outcoach us and stop Troy."
...with JT at the helm, I'll say we've won already. :oh:

Tebow plays key role in Gators offense

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Freshman quarterback Tim Tebow realizes his day is about to come. Since he committed to Florida, fans have been buzzing about the day the left-hander takes over as the Gators' signal caller.

But he's not even mildly ready to start thinking about 2007 ... unless you have the Jan. 8 national championship game against Ohio State in mind. Tebow may be the backup to Chris Leak for one more game but he's still a vital part of Florida's game plan.

Florida defense is no overnight success

By Jack Carey, USA TODAY
GAINESVILLE, Fla. ? To hear Charlie Strong, Florida's co-defensive coordinator, tell it, it was just a matter of time until the Gators' stopping force developed into the fearsome unit it is today.
"The guys have played, and they've matured and developed," says Strong, who as a member of the Gators' previous coaching staff under Ron Zook worked during those years with a number of players who are now upperclassmen.

Re: Biggest Buckeye Weaknesses (can UF utilize) I heard a rumor that there are these green rocks that make the Buckeyes weak. Maybe we can find some of those.

Never assume. You know what that does. :wink2:

I have watched both teams, and IMHO, OSU is the better team. BUT, this is the National Championship game, and Florida will bring whatever they have and lay it all on the field.

I dont remember verbatim but it was something along the lines of if you take away Ted Ginn and Anthony Gonzalez hes not as good of a player.
Sounds daft - though, I've heard it rumored that if you put 20 pound lead weights on your shoes you don't run so fast.

BTW, I'm guessing they made no mention of Hartline, Robiskie, or Nicol in all of this?
