I’m just honestly confused why nationally people are so sure Michigan will be “back” next year? With the rest of their leftover talent leaving, Moore has been questionable all year. The one saving grace for their season was beating us, which, well…. They literally just let Day walk into rake after rake. Did they really do anything special?

Idk. Maybe I’m coping. I don’t see a program that’s about to have another meteoric rise. Doesn’t excuse all of our own issues at the moment obviously and we still have to beat them whether they are good or not. Just wondering why Michigan is seen as just having a blip down year when everything tells me they will be closer to this going forward than the ridiculous buzzsaw natty team we saw last year.
I’ll say what I always say about Michigan, they have the facilities, the money, the alum group, and the history that they can turn to. Like OSU, Penn State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, USC, and Notre Dame, they can reload in a heartbeat. Look how quickly Penn State came back to challenge in the Big Ten despite getting whacked by the NCAA. And look how long it took SMU to get back to anything resembling good.

College and pro fans are a very different bunch though. Players in college are kids who are fueled by a ton of emotion and testosterone. We've all been in our earlt 20s before, and many of us would fight or do something ignorant at a moments notice. And many of us grow out of that, and when rooting for a pro team, we're not trying to cause physical altercations, and for the most part neither are the players. That's why you don't see flag planting in the NFL, because NFL players KNOW what will happen next(just like back in the day when TO did his stunt in the middle of the Dallas star when he played for the 49ers)
Have you been to a Bengals/Steelers/Browns/Ravens game? Bunch of drunks looking for a fist fight and finding it.

Yeah my wife mentioned the same lol…

I still talked out loud a few times such as “stop running the ball up the middle” and “oh my god he missed it” but sadly it also helps to know what’s coming.

I knew in the fourth quarter we were losing. I even said as much in the game thread. You could see our guys souls being taken mid game.
my teenage daughter and my wife, both of whom are not experienced game-watchers, were watching with me. it's probably the only time they've watched a whole game with me, all the way through.

they both started to ask me midway into the 2nd quarter why ohio state keeps trying to run the ball, and that it was obviously not working. i'd just shrug my shoulders and grunt.

i think they were excited that they were able to analyze what's going on. normally they only comment on big plays like touchdowns, fumbles, sacks and interceptions maybe as they walk through the living room or they come in when they hear the cheering on the TV to see what happened.

they're not football aficionados. by any stretch.

at some point in the 3rd quarter when they both kept on asking the question why ohio state keeps trying to run the ball, i told them that they've really made their point and i agree with them and it'd be better the three of us just finish out watching the game without any further piercing analysis.

took me a couple days to get past the evil eyes for my retort. it was one of those, "it's not what you said... it's HOW you said it", as i learned later.

i still can't get over that.

I screamed so loudly at the TV...throw the f#%$ing ball...stop running the f#%$ing ball...my neighbors closed their doors and windows on a hot summer night and looked at me as if I were a nutjob the next day when I greeted them across our garden wall. The wife and daughter rolled their eyes.
