2024 College Football Polls

I don't know about these projections that still have us at something like 90%. We need to run the table to get to Indy, and without that extra data point, it's going to be hard to break into a very crowded field that might include 2 G5s.

Ahead of us would probably be:
3 B1G
4 SEC
2 ACC
1 B12
and 1 or 2 G5 and/or ND

With an 18 team, no-divisions league, even one loss in conference, and a team is going to be relying on tiebreakers to get to Indy.

I think a two loss OSU still stays ranked above most, if not all of the two loss SEC teams.

Meanwhile...over at espn

These motherless fucks aren't even trying to hide it.

The FPI has always been the most garbage of ranking systems. It seems to get WORSE with each passing year as well

Besides the obvious laughable fuckery at the top

Clemson #12
Louisville #13
South Carolina #14
USC #18
4-5 Florida #28
3-6 Kansas #29
5-4 Arkansas #30
3-6 Auburn #31

Undefeated BYU is just barely ahead of Florida, Kansas, Arkansas and Auburn at #27

We will see if the committee puts tOSU ahead of Tennessee. They have a loss to Arkansas, an 14-pt loss to UGA, and only 1 win over a top-15 team (Bama), while tOSU handed #3 and #9 their only losses.

It matters because those two will very likely end up as the #8 and #9 seeds, with the #8 getting the home game.

These are projected final seeds after next week, not rankings.
1 - Oregon/Penn State winner or Texas
2 - Texas/UGA winner or Penn St
3 - SMU or Boise St or ASU/ISU winner
4 - Boise St or Arizona St/Iowa St winner or Clemson if UNLV wins

5 - Notre Dame or Oregon
6 - Penn St or Notre Dame or Texas
7 - Texas/UGA loser or Penn St
8 - tOSU or Tennessee

9 - tOSU or Tennessee
10 - Indiana
11 - Arizona St if they win, or Bama/USCe/SMU
12 - Clemson or Iowa St or UNLV if they win, or Bama/USCe/SMU if SMU loses. Boise State could also drop to 12 if SMU and ASU both win

Coaches poll would have 4 SEC teams in with two of them hosting.

Byes: Oregon, Texas, SMU, Boise

1st Round
Arizona State @ PSU
Bama @ND
IU @UGA
Ohio State @Tenn

Three chances to move up: Clemson beats SMU, Oregon blows out PSU and Texas blows out UGA.

SMU losing wouldn‘t help, there will be 4 Conference champs at 1-4 and at least 1 Conference Champ seeded below tOSU no matter what happens.

Hopefully the committee will realize what the pollsters haven’t, that tOSU has a better body of work than the Vols. But the ESPN influence could use the polls to justify Tennessee hosting.
