2024 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

I hate them as much as you do, but 1 loss>>>is bigger than 2 losses. It'll all sort itself out in the cfp.

It's who the 2nd loss was against

we woulda been the #5 seed if the 2nd loss was another close loss to Oregon in the B1G title game.

but instead we got our 2nd loss to a bad 5 loss team at home.

1. So Notre Dame's reward for pounding two service academies, the weak sisters of the ACC, Miami of Ohio, and losing to NIU at home, is to be ranked ahead of Ohio State.
2. If I'm Dan Lenning, I'm playing my #2s in Indy, saving the #1s for a meaningful game.
3. If what I see in the media in any way matches the thinking of the CFP decision-makers, it looks like the pairings are set to eliminate as many Big 10 teams as possible.
4. I'm still pissed about Saturday.

They don't want Indiana in at all but their hands are tied after a chunk of the SEC teams they were hoping for crapped down their legs.

If Texas is the 5 seed I could actually see them seed manipulating Indiana down to the 12 spot to give Texas the slam dunk 1st round game.

A five seed that didn't play a conference title game is a sweet spot

Imagine Notre Dame having a bye week this week, then playing an Indiana or IowaState at home, then playing Boise on a neutral field (which will be dominated by ND fans).

If they're going to give meh conference winners byes, they at least need to go the NFL playoff route of reseeding every round.

I think that ultimately has to be coming at some point. I doubt they get rid of the BYE thing, but reseeding makes it a little better at least.

Change it to 8 teams like it should be and there is no need for seeding. 4 winners vs 4 lucky teams. First round at local sites and then bowl games for the final 4. Done and done.

It's never going back below 12, if anything it will got to 16 and then 24 like what happened with 1-AA

You are probably right but I think it is a mistake and the playoffs will suck each year until the final 4 or 8. This year should be a good example in the first rounds

Yea the big problem with 1-A FBS whatever they call it now is that most years in the 4 team playoff it didn't even look like 4 teams belonged

The first round matchups will probably be decent games but you'll see a lot of blow outs in the round of 8 in most years. This year feels a bit different though because nobody has really looked that great. A SMU or Arizona State type team could sneak into the final 4 and even the final this year and it wouldn't shock me.

Just snuck a peak at the projected first round games on ESPN. I would love most of those predictions as southern teams would be heading north. Now we just need some cold weather!

I still don't put it past the committee to attempt to seed manipulate all they can to keep their precious southern teams from having to go play in real winter environments. Theres ZERO reason Tennessee should flip ahead of us. We both have 2 losses, scUM & Arkansas is a wash. Our 1st loss to Oregon by 1 is better than their 14 point loss to Georgia. And their only good win is against the 3 loss Bama squad. We have 2 wins over teams currently ranked in the top 10. They have ONE win over anyone even ranked in the top 25. But it wouldn't shocked me if they had us 9 traveling to Tennessee.

Hell, I'm expecting it. Remember espn is televising it, and they'll be banging the drum all week to get those games in SEC stadiums. And don't believe for a second that the committee isn't influenced by the pressure campaign. Also, the B1G's rep is Warde Manuel, so we won't have a friendly voice in the room arguing that Tennessee should go to Columbus.

Oh I expect it too. When it comes Tennessee if you really look at the resumes and not just listen to the SEC SEC SEC rabble rabble there's zero reason they should be hosting a game against us in this situation.

Hell any of the committees prior justifications "Eye Test, Game Control, Whatever" they don't even beat us in any of those either. They'll make up some new bullshit though. "Recency of loss actually does matter!" or something like that.

They just need to give the winner of the big ten and sec the 1,2 seeds, then rank the other 10.

Throw in one token small school ( equivalent to giving a retard a square block for a circle board).

ACC and Big 12 are so ass that they don’t deserve autos. Just look at their championship games. They are like LIV golf, fuck them.
