Nobody is saying this, but the 12-team playoff format shows how ABSURD it was we were sticking with a 4-team playoff for 10 years. In an ideal world, we would have had at least 6 teams in the playoff for decades by now. This year teams ranked #5 and #6 in the FINAL CFP committee rankings were the teams that EARNED their way to the championship game. JUST LAST YEAR ND and OSU BOTH would have been excluded from the national championship game by virtue of rankings alone, as they would have been edged out by Texas and PSU teams based on them having easier schedules (than OSU at least). Texas's best wins the entire regular season were beating 8-5 Texas A&M and UM teams who finished the season unranked, and they lost 2x to the only team they played prior to the playoffs that ended up in the final top-25. PSU didn't have as good of wins as OSU had, and also had 2 losses. Splitting hairs to give these types of teams the nod to be included in the CFP over teams like ND and OSU is a COMPLETE JOKE and it's ridiculous it continued as long as it did. The expanded CFP format is a GAME CHANGER that clearly came during a year when OSU desperately needed to have it.
