Game Thread 2017 B1G Championship Game: OSU vs. Wisconsin - 12/2/17 @ 8:00 ET (FOX)

Anyways, time to sign off.

I got a ton of flak on this site for voicing my opinions regarding JT's passing after Michigan last year, and us likely getting roasted in the playoffs last year. Time unfortunately proved me right on both counts.

I hope that is not the case this year - only time will tell. Go Bucks

I apologize if I brought the mood down a bit, I concede that. But the game just didn’t need to be that close. I AM genuinely happy for the looks on their faces as they were up on that stage.

My bad. Go Bucks, honest

No sweat! It WAS an exasperating game, but at least they won when they pissed down their leg this time.

Let me spell this out for you, really really clear:

1) Be Ohio State
2) Be extremely inconsistent but still end up winning the Big Ten
3) Get in the playoffs and get blown out for a second consecutive year, making 3 consecutive years for Big Ten teams to be embarrassed nationally
4) Be future Ohio State. Be a great team but drop 1 you shouldn't have (i.e. 2014). Due to prior experience, the committee elects to leave us out.

It has nothing to do with embarrassment and everything to do perception and how this affects the committee.

I would rather not go this year, a year in which we will almost certainly get embarassed, and instead go a year where we have a good team that is deserving.

Tl;dr If we get blown out yet again, there is a possibility we get left out in a year in which we were deserving.
Let me spell this out for you, really really clear: This is one of the stupidest arguments that I have ever read on BuckeyePlanet.

If the Committee selects Ohio State this year, then Ohio State is deserving this year. That's all that really counts.

Okay, let me spell it out again:

OSU in 2014: a very good team that improved consistently by the end of the year, but dropped 1 early to VT
OSU in 2016: a talented but mediocre team that consistently got worse over the season
OSU in 2017: an extremely inconsistent team that got blown out 2x and did not improve over the year

Clearly, since I thought we were a very good team in 2014, I wanted us to get in. Last year, and this year - not a chance in hell.

Agree to disagree. I see 14 and 16 finishing very similarly. 14 ending with pulling OT win at Penn State and a very mediocre game in Minnesota. And 16 ending with the blocked kicked fiasco in Happy Valley (seriously, fuck the Pedsters) and a closer than should be game against the Spartans.

My memory may be off, but I think we dominated the rest of the those second halves other than the scum game in 16.

You present no argument of your own, yet interestingly choose to call mine stupid.

The committee will do what they want - what I say on this board has no effect on them or anyone.

However, my personal preference is that we do not go this year. I am not arguing to the committee, I am arguing what would be better for our program in the long run. We seem to be talking past each other, so good night
