How bad did it hurt our recruiting this year? Not at all.

As I said before - one loss last year didn't change our standing with the 2018 players, since we've been recruiting them for 4-5 years.

But let me ask you this - what about 2 consecutive shut outs on a national stage?

Do you truly think players in the classes of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 aren't going to notice or care - especially when we're competing for them against Clemson and Alabama?

Let me spell this out for you, really really clear:

1) Be Ohio State
2) Be extremely inconsistent but still end up winning the Big Ten
3) Get in the playoffs and get blown out for a second consecutive year, making 3 consecutive years for Big Ten teams to be embarrassed nationally
4) Be future Ohio State. Be a great team but drop 1 you shouldn't have (i.e. 2014). Due to prior experience, the committee elects to leave us out.

It has nothing to do with embarrassment and everything to do perception and how this affects the committee.

I would rather not go this year, a year in which we will almost certainly get embarassed, and instead go a year where we have a good team that is deserving.

Tl;dr If we get blown out yet again, there is a possibility we get left out in a year in which we were deserving.

Sounds like you would have picked Baylor or TCU to get in and get boat-raced against Alabama in 14.

BTW, how did that 'perception' help the defending champion team that trailed for literally 0:00 seconds the entire next season?

I'm seeing some whining about officials on the Wisconsin 247 site. And, of course, on the BWI site. But no one is surprised by that.
Anyway, other than on that last drive, did Wisconsin EVER get called for holding?
Someone on this site said it was because of the officials that the game was close.

Here is an unerring rule of sports fan psychology: For every game, winners or losers, there will be fans who blame the refs for being unfairly aligned against them. Without fail. Every game thread everywhere for every sport. It's a universal law of sports fan behavior.

And 2002.

2002 as a whole was a goddamn miracle. But 2014, we curb stomped nearly everyone we played after Vtech. The offense was clicking on all cylinders going into the CFP.
This year's team is a completely different story. There is very few things I saw that we improved on aside from the D Line and secondary.

Don't get me wrong, I want to be in the CFP but we won't see the same results as we did in2002.
