Game Thread 2017 B1G Championship Game: OSU vs. Wisconsin - 12/2/17 @ 8:00 ET (FOX)

I’m not conceding it, it should just be the #1 goal in my eyes. Not that the BIG doesn’t matter, or that it doesn’t lead us to bigger things, you are all right on that. But I got hooked on the Buckeyes in 02 as a kid watching my hometown be put on a national stage.

So that is my prerogative. Geez jumping down my throat because I would like fewer mistakes and a national championship? Sorry?....

I've got two #1 goals:

Get JT healthy...and...Get the receivers to hold on to the ball when it hits them in their hands.

Well, you have the hero from surgery story. The Alabama crap schedule story.

Oh, then there's this one. Put two SEC teams into the CFP and watch your ratings plunge through the floor.

Yea but don't forget we would be playing Clemson. After what happened last year probably no one besides Clemson ans Buckeye fans are going to get too excited about a rematch that was so one sided the last time.

Ohio State has six major national championships since the "poll system" began in 1936. Six titles in 81 years. That's one title every 13.5 years.

National championships are rare, even for great programs like Ohio State. If you have a shot at a national championship, however remote that shot may be, you take it and hope for the best. You certainly don't wish for your team to be left out because you AS A FAN might be embarrassed by a bad loss. That's just pathetic thinking ... or not even thinking at all, just worthless emoting.

Let me spell this out for you, really really clear:

1) Be Ohio State
2) Be extremely inconsistent but still end up winning the Big Ten
3) Get in the playoffs and get blown out for a second consecutive year, making 3 consecutive years for Big Ten teams to be embarrassed nationally
4) Be future Ohio State. Be a great team but drop 1 you shouldn't have (i.e. 2014). Due to prior experience, the committee elects to leave us out.

It has nothing to do with embarrassment and everything to do perception and how this affects the committee.

I would rather not go this year, a year in which we will almost certainly get embarassed, and instead go a year where we have a good team that is deserving.

Tl;dr If we get blown out yet again, there is a possibility we get left out in a year in which we were deserving.
