Game Thread 2017 B1G Championship Game: OSU vs. Wisconsin - 12/2/17 @ 8:00 ET (FOX)

Sounds like you would have picked Baylor or TCU to get in and get boat-raced against Alabama in 14.

BTW, how did that 'perception' help the defending champion team that trailed for literally 0:00 seconds the entire next season?

Okay, let me spell it out again:

OSU in 2014: a very good team that improved consistently by the end of the year, but dropped 1 early to VT
OSU in 2016: a talented but mediocre team that consistently got worse over the season
OSU in 2017: an extremely inconsistent team that got blown out 2x and did not improve over the year

Clearly, since I thought we were a very good team in 2014, I wanted us to get in. Last year, and this year - not a chance in hell.

I’m not conceding it, it should just be the #1 goal in my eyes. Not that the BIG doesn’t matter, or that it doesn’t lead us to bigger things, you are all right on that. But I got hooked on the Buckeyes in 02 as a kid watching my hometown be put on a national stage.

So that is my prerogative. Geez jumping down my throat because I would like fewer mistakes and a national championship? Sorry?....

People are jumping down your throat because you said "I'm not even happy" 5 minutes after your team won the conference championship game. I get being frustrated, but damn....if you can't take any joy out of tonight, I would recommend finding a new pastime that will make you happy.

Have you considered birding? It is much less stressful.

Sadly I think we have all the potential to be a 2014 type team, but we can never seem to put it together. I know people love JT, but I think if Haskins played today we win by 30 easy. JT, I love the kid, I really do, but he is not the best QB for us right now in my opinion. However only opinion that matters is Urban's.

Let me spell this out for you, really really clear:

1) Be Ohio State
2) Be extremely inconsistent but still end up winning the Big Ten
3) Get in the playoffs and get blown out for a second consecutive year, making 3 consecutive years for Big Ten teams to be embarrassed nationally
4) Be future Ohio State. Be a great team but drop 1 you shouldn't have (i.e. 2014). Due to prior experience, the committee elects to leave us out.

It has nothing to do with embarrassment and everything to do perception and how this affects the committee.

I would rather not go this year, a year in which we will almost certainly get embarassed, and instead go a year where we have a good team that is deserving.

Tl;dr If we get blown out yet again, there is a possibility we get left out in a year in which we were deserving.
I get what you're saying but who is really a lock for that 4th spot--SC, Bama? If it falls to the Bucks go for it. Let's just enjoy a BIG Championship and debate this shit tomorrow night.

The thing I will say about the playoffs is:

All the other Championship games were complete blowouts.

--One of our losses was from the Big XII champ who won convincingly

--Miami, Auburn, TCU none of them could hang with the top teams in the country.

--ALABAMA SAT AT HOME and watched us FIGHT to win our Championship against the only unbeaten team

--The team that just beat Bama lost convincingly and so did Fresno State (eye roll)

Finally...

--If you play a good team it's supposed to be hard. Sure, maybe it shouldn't be that hard but it is what it is... we won

The other team I can see may be "deserving" is USC. As much as I hate them, they also won their title closely to a fairly good team that has a Heisman canidate. Probably sounds ridiculous but they deserve it more than Bama.

I apologize if I brought the mood down a bit, I concede that. But the game just didn’t need to be that close. I AM genuinely happy for the looks on their faces as they were up on that stage.

My bad. Go Bucks, honest
