2017-2018 Ohio State Men's Basketball (24-7, 15-3, #2 Seed in B1G Tourney)

Good to see them throttle a clearly overmatched opponent to start the season instead of letting RMU hang around. Despite some of the mistakes. Ball handling issues are to be expected this year due to the lack of depth in that regard. Good to build some confidence in these early games though.

It wasn't really bad ball handling. Some bad passes, offensive fouls, travels. If this game is any indication of future offensive strategy, they will be making a lot more post entry passes than they did recently. It is generally going to be harder for them to avoid turnovers if they are playing through the post instead of running the weave and settling for 3s.

Since you hold them in such high regard, what is your top-10 moral victory list?

Don't know, but I'm pretty sure none of it involves the NIT. EDIT: I do recall the greatest moral victory ever. Rocky I. So there's that...

Which segues to the theme of this thread....Let's go, Bucks....to the NCAA's! Great start, and yes, a nice post presence again with Kaleb.

Bucks have Radford today at 2:30. Radford is 1-0, fresh off a nine-point victory against..................Georgia "Southwestern".

I'm expecting another 30-spread here, so still no info. on how good we really are, but a nice chance to develop some rotations and get the butterflies out of the way for the newcomers.

takeaways from watching radford game:

1. we're going to be pressed this season and we're going to be pressed a lot. for a high-major, jackson is only average as a ballhandler facing pressure. for a high-major, dakich is poor as a ballhandler against pressure. i think coach is learning quickly that you can't leave either guard isolated when bringing up the ball against pressure. they need a release valve.

2. though the buckeyes have faced only robert morris and radford, i think it's clear that kbd is legit. he's confident and fluid. be wary of a team that has a solid defender at the 4. if you limit or shut down kbd, the team will likely be in a world of hurt.

3. so far, i'm not seeing a kyle young that will play much when the competition gets tougher. the game just looks way too fast for him, and he's not contributing much in non-scoring ways. his outside jumpers have been way off. confidence is everything.

4. three-point defense and offense have been horrible so far. giving up 21/47 (45%) while shooting 13/45 (29%), especially given the competition? not good at all. gonzaga returns 3 upperclassmen starters who shot about 40% from three last season and is starting a freshman who will shoot about the same this season. if we don't lose by more than 20 points, it will be because our perimeter defense improves a lot by next thursday. i'm going to chalk up that game as a win if we don't lose by 15 or more.

5. there is jackson the shooter and there is jackson the creator. i like the former a lot more.

6. tate, have you ever wondered why you find yourself wide open for your three-point attempts?

7. until we face a good team, i'll have a hard time evaluating this team as a whole instead of a collection of individual parts. it's just too easy to beat a team when you're doing your own thing. playing well against a good team usually takes teamwork and chemistry.

Texas Southern is better than RMU and Radford. Not that that's saying much, they should still be able to win somewhat comfortably but Texas So will make them work if they don't come out ready to play. Gonzaga beat them by 28 and then they took Washington State (Washington State is a pretty bad high major team though) to OT, so i'd expect somewhere inbetween that to be the result here.

The overall post was solid, but liked these 2 points the most. I think we knew with our roster makeup that we were going to be pressed by pretty much everyone. It sounds like we've had a few issues with it so far, but are also attacking the pressure when we've had the chance. We are going to turn the ball over some, but I think the key to preventing teams to pressing us unmercifully will be to attack and score against it.

We haven't face decent competition yet. The next 2 games should be a small step up. I'll be interested to see consistency from kbd. so far in his career, he's had some really good games particularly against lesser competition, but then kinda melted into the back ground in other games. It will be interesting to see if he does take the next step when we start playing some better teams/defenses.

Better than nothing but cannot say that I like them at all. In fact, they are almost ugly.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State basketball will wear alternate uniforms when it plays in the PK80 Phil Knight Invitational next week in Portland, Oregon.

Nike released the new look for the Buckeyes, and the other teams participating in the event on Thursday.
