2015 Offense Discussion

It never gets any less amazing to me that we had a season where the leading receiver caught 14 passes.

Back in the 1950's there were leading receivers with 4, 7, & 8 receptions.

OSU has a presumptive 1st round draft pick at QB, a Heisman Top 5 finisher for garbage-time, and moved the best QB on the roster to H.

And David Pollack just suggested this will be the most explosive/highest scoring offense in college football history, coming off a game where the starter completed 9 passes.

VA Tech really does have a very good D with lots of good athletes.

We put up 572 yards with three turnovers, three weapons suspended and Elliot carrying the ball 11 times. We scored TDs while being interfered with.

I look at the depth chart and it makes me weep. I don't know how Meyer slows this thing down against the really weak teams. We need an inept QB to act as a governor so we don't look like outright bullies.

Yeah, he predicted that OSU will average 60 points a game. Not buying that one bit, but I think if Meyer wanted, this team could average 50+ points a game...

See and this is where I saw issues in the off season and kept telling my dad last night... I mean when we put our back ups in they're literally all big ten type players so the 2nd team offense is still better than every single first team defense that we may play all regular season long. So when things get out of hand how the hell do we slow it down? The one thing I noticed with about 10 minutes left in the 4th is we started just running straight forward with not much passing and bled the clock a little.

I'm in agreement with David Pollock in that this offense could set the all time record for points scored. The only reason we won't (and IMO we won't) is because we won't want to embarrass anyone with Pedo, MSU, and Scum all getting the hammer regardless though. You have Zeke in the backfield (and by the way we probably get Mike Weber back shortly to be Zeke's backup), Cardale at QB, Mike Thomas out wide with Corey Smith, and in the slots you can have any of the Quad of Wilson, Braxton, Marshall or Samuel motioning paved by a offensive line that IMO is by far the best in the nation.

I'm sorry guys and although I barely remember the 98' team (just turned 30 this year) this is without a doubt the most talented team we've ever assembled from top to bottom. It's just not the talent but it's how that talent works in conjunction with each other. We have burners with Marshall/Braxton etc, we have power with Zeke/Thomas/Vannett/Weber, and we have two QB's that would start at ANY school in the nation and yes that means you TCU/USC.

This might be the most disappointing offense that I remember. I love seeing the offense try and score till the clock goes all zero's, now I only get to watch them try and score the first 3 quarters with the 4th quarter trying to go 3 and out in style...

Curious for thoughts on upcoming game. Does anyone think we will see less speed option for Cardale and something more in his wheelhouse? He seemed really solid on the runs between the tackles. One wonders what adjustments might be made.
