2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

Well, now we're circling the drain.

I'll give my opinion as I've decided this week on what I really want to see happen.

Cardale is "the guy" and he should be given free reign of the playbook and the offense without having to worry if he's on a short leash or not.

If he's able to be comfortable and improve his decision making, I do think he's the best fit for the offense. I think the indecision on the part of the coaches has been more of a hindrance than an opportunity. I just want the kid to get his shot.

I'm tired of hearing how JT hasn't beat Cardale out in practice. CJ isn't getting it done in games with any semblance of consistency. We're ranked #1 but if I wasn't an OSU alum I'd be laughing at that based on team performance to date.

They kinda did. It's extremely hard if not impossible to defend an offense that is proficient at both power running and deep passing. Part of the reason Elliott went off was Cardale was dangerous throwing the ball deep, and vice versa. And that's not even mentioning Cardale's numerous 3rd and 4th down conversions with his legs.

No one knew Cardale was dangerous throwing the deep ball. And he isn't. He's lazy with his mechanics. Devin Smith bailed him out.

Urban is not infallible. He is abandoning the the cornerstone of his offensive philosophy with this experiment, and it's going to cost him. We're five freaking weeks in now. How much longer does this much talent need to look like shit?

I'm not convinced we have a great quarterback on the roster anymore. CJ is the best we've got according not to those closest to the situation, but he's not great.

What hasn't happened is JT being named the starter and getting the bulk of the reps in practice, like he did for 3 months last year. CJ is getting those reps, so to expect JT to look sharp in games is unfair. He hasn't looked any worse than Jones, though.

If Urban comes out tomorrow and says "Cardale is our starter" I may break stuff.

He showed ZERO confidence in Cardale in the 4th quarter. He put it all on the defense and they bailed him out. But if you don't have confidence in your starting QB - and you have a back up who has proven he can play - you have to make a change.
