2015-16 Ohio State Quarterback Discussion

We really only have 1 true WR playing, our leading receiver. The next 7 are Zeke, a TE and 2-3 converted RBs/HBs and 1-2 converted QBs (Could call Jalin a former HB or QB). We have a bunch of gadget players and really great athletes at WR, that doesn't lead to a working pro style system. Urban seems to be really great a recruiting the gadget players/ electric athletes, but not a lot of true WRs that are ready to play and this has been exasperated by injuries.

To be fair, we have a few "true WR"... they're just injured (Corey, Brown, Parris -- technically a convert I guess, Clark and Dixon ???), buried behind all the converts/gadgets (Greene, Kato, McLaurin), or fresh meat (Hill, Stump)

This board needs some way to designate the members who are alumni, so those members can be properly respected.

Pretty sure that anyone on this board, alum or not, who said the kind of things that bronzer-boy said would have gotten a two week time out... at least in the good old days they would have. At a minimum they would have been the center of a ding-ring.

I don't discriminate I love all swords equally
That's what she said.

I think Meyer made the right choice here today. Its not hard to see, the offense is playing better with JT. There is a reason that he beat out CJ last season and we are seeing it unfold this season. I can understand CJ being upset, but with that being said it's not like he wasnt given a fair opportunity to take the job and run with it.

I will never downplay what Jones means to the program, but I hope that he handles his demotion with the same grace as JT did in August. He is only a play away from having the keys again and I hope that he prepares that way and waits for his next opportunity.

Frankly, I don't know that there was a way to pull of the season without expecting some of this. We all know that the backup QB is the most popular guy in town, right?

That said, I do feel bad for CJ. I was one who expected that JT would win the job going into the season but without a doubt, am behind whoever the staff decides to put on the field.

However, as someone else said earlier, I think that there were multiple examples of play calling that didn't put CJ in a position to move the team down field effectively. While I love Brax as much as anyone, him being in the wildcat without the ability to throw the ball... and an empty backfield? Come on... we all know how that ends. Sadly, I think that CJ has been on the field way too many times when those types of plays were called. I don't have any stats to back up my observations, but I kinda have a feeling that if we looked at it, the types of plays called when CJ was on the field didn't bode well for long sustained drives. I do acknowledge that there have been plenty of examples where the supposed strengths of CJ weren't well displayed this year as well. Graduations, I'm sure, hurt us there. I'm sure that a new QB coach as well as OC also may have had an impact as well.

At this point what I hope most for is for JT to take over the team and be super effective. Have the chance to run the score up a bit and let the QBs alternate when we have the game basically in hand. There's only one statistic that is meaningful for the rest of the season... that's the W-column. Get that done and minimize injuries and we'll be fine.
