2014 tOSU Defense Discussion

What's that link say? At work and it won't load... alsowe are thinking identically alike lvbuckeye.

LINE UP in a 8 man box. Who cares about confusing them because theey aren't confusing anyone with what theyll try to do. Its either dive, jet sweeps, or play action. If our guys are already in their gaps pre snap then its not possible to take yourself out of position by over pursuit. Line up in your gaps, load the box, make in simple, and attack Gordon.

I too will be out of this world enraged if we play them soft and try to stop them with 7 in the box (with one of those 7 essentially a glorified safety in Darron Lee). I will go as far to say if we get torched tomorrow and lose because of it then id be all for another staff move on defense (guess who). Luckily if we stopped them with a better offense last year with a not as good defense on our part we should be OK

You make good points, but I no longer get "enraged" about anything related to college sports.

Life is too short to get so pissed off over something so trivial. I save my rage for the important stuff, like three-putting from five fucking feet!!!!!!

What's sad is I know its stupid butjust can't help it... haha

I normally only get pissed though when I feel we are not adjusting to my defense lol

Was this a "breakout" performance or just the right team (one dimensional) against a steadily improving but still young group?
I tend to think we're closer to the the team that played at MSU than what we saw Saturday night.
Call it steadily getting better.

I also think that Alabama plays similarly to MSU as well: decent QB, heavy reliance on the running game, a Very good WR that gets the ball on play actions when the offense lulls defenses to sleep and a monstrous O line. But nothing our defense couldn't handle

Our front 7 will need to bring their lunch pales because Alabama will want to pound us with Yeldon and Harvey. Sims shouldn't scare us too much, but finding creative ways to get the ball to Cooper should. But I'd love to see Doran Grant on Cooper, with help from Bell. But our front 7 will need to control the game and set the tone.

Not our best defensive unit ever but these boys are talented and absolutely improving each game. Solid enough unit to win a title, especially with our highly productive offense. Big test coming up against Oregon that I am not ready to start thinking about. This defense will have defended all 3 heisman finalists in 3 straight games. They have largely contained the first two....
