2014 Season Discussion

Man, I got chills at each chorus for that.

Watching all of the explosions that the Buckeyes had last year it really is hard to fathom that they lost 2 games. It's hard to believe unless you watched every minute of the season. :grr:

Yeah, it is great. Last year's team was terrific. but those 13 season ending injuries really took their toll, not to mention the less serious ones as well. Everybody pray that no one else gets hurt. Anyway, can't wait for the season to start......should be awesome.:oh: :urban2:

I have trouble getting excited watching defensive highlights from last year. The truth of how awful that side of the ball was is still too fresh in my memory. It's like seeing a hot photoshopped picture of a girl that you know if butt-nasty in real life.

One game in the books

JTB was better than I expected. Hopefully he will continue to be that solid against bigger, quicker teams.

Oline was worse than I expected and I wasn't expecting much.

Running game hard to judge because oline struggled, but there were definitely some good play to build on.

Lots of receivers in the mix, which is good but I'm still hoping to see more big play other than the Devin home run. Until I see that, I'm not convinced we have what we need.

Defense, again hard to judge because if the opponent, but I did like Grant at MLB. I think desiel was a load out there, which was awesome. And I liked Lee too.

I disagree. He was in the same alignment as Josh Perry at the MLB, and I found him performing adequately.
Regardless of who the MLB is most of the 1st contact was being made 3-4 yards past the line of scrimmage by the defense most of the day. With the top Dline in the nation in front of them and a lack of adjustment to stopping the pitch man, the only LB that was around the ball all day appeared to be Lee.

Pups showed they could bite today. Difficult to assess how they will play against a more traditional team, but for the first run out of the gate, I'm less concerned than I was before the game started.

Lots of promise on the field. Urb will earn his check this season.

Lee doesn't play MLB, and his responsibilities are much different. Considering the option offense that Navy runs, the MLB is typically further back as it is up to him to see more of the field from side to side, potentially have responsibility for the pitch man, all the while coming up the middle when called. While Curtis was in the game, I saw him have at least three tackles. Perry had maybe a few more.
