2014 Season Discussion

What about Indiana? That game's at home too, and they beat Indiana St. by a whopping 18 points (28-10).

At this point, I'd say sure wins are Kent, Rutgers, Illinois and Indiana.

Pretty likely loss would be MSU and PSU (on the road, and their defense is playing well--I anticipate a game much like last night's).

Toss-ups are Cincinnati, Maryland, Minnesota and Michigan.
Could buy into IU. Almost thought about that as well. But don't buy PSU being in the likely loss category. At best the toss up category.

Putting them in the likely loss category puts them in the same tier as MSU which is not true, and their defense has looked decent....against Akron at home and UCF losing the their top flight top 3 draft choice QB.

Sooo... if we compare this year with last, I don't see where there will be improvement. With a fair amount of regret, I'll surmise that my perpetual angst from the end of last year will continue to carry over. Teams will pass better than they had against other opponents and subsequently will score against our D, whereas our run game will continue to suffer and we won't be able to keep up.

Remainder of the year:

Kent State - Win
Cincinnati - Win?
Maryland - Even
Rutgers - Win?
Penn State - Even
Illinois - Win
Michigan State - Loss
Minnesota - Even
Indiana - Even
Michigan - Win?

I realize last night has left me down and pert near delusional, but I only see two undebatable wins (Kent and Illinois).

I think Penn State's depth issues will seriously hurt their chances. Indiana worries the hell out of me just because by that time their offense should be humming along.

Cincinnati's best shot to beat Ohio State this year. They likely know it too.

Not so much a revision, because of tOSU's improvement as much as it is the collective shatness of the rest of the B1G.

I'm hopeful that this young team of ours will continue to gel and that the early byes are helpful in that process. You're right that this conference is such a joke at this point that we certainly have a great chance of posting a stellar record this year. Maybe by the end of the season, our improvement will actually be commensurate with our record.

I hope for the same.
