2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

I suppose that's one problem. The other problem is that the conference we are in hasn't done a great deal to force a change in that reporting and the SEC continued with a strong OOC performance this year. All I was really trying to say at the beginning of this discussion is that the SEC has had as many or more quality wins as any other conference.

How much in the off season and first weeks did you hear ESPN point out that the SEC lost both their BCS games last year?

You have no problem with Mississippi State launching from NR to 1st in 3 weeks off the backs of wins against obviously down LSU and aTm? So then when other SEC teams beat them, they get a huge jump while Miss St only falls a little bit?

aTm is good cuz they beat USCe!!! Let's rank them high!
Miss St is good cuz they beat aTm!!! Bump them 20 spots!
Bama just beat Miss St!!! RANK THEM NUMBER 1A, with AUBURN AND LSU AND OLE MISS AND GEORGIA AND SOME GUY WHO IS WALKING BY AN SEC STADIUM ALL TIED FOR FIRST!!!!!!
Didn't they beat Auburn too? I happen to think Auburn is solid, so no I'm not bothered by where MSU is at the moment

How is hockey doing in the perception of the nation? In the late 90s, early 2000s it was a pretty big deal. ESPN realizes they aren't making enough money on it and it's become a joke that some people even like hockey. What ESPN wants the idiotic public to think is hugely relevant to what the idiot public actually thinks.
I'm not asking what the idiotic public thinks, I'm asking what Josh thinks.

I think what they are trying to say is that the polls just see a preseason Number 9 USCe team get completely demolished vs a aTm team and because of that aTm jumps up 12 spots from 21 to 9. But as soon as they play a good team they get beat handedly by 3 straight teams. That first loss to Miss St. has people thinking that Miss St. beat a good team in aTm when we can see now that aTm sucks and the reason they jumped to number 9 was because USCe also sucks. Polls up to Week 8 just shouldn't exist. There is no way to know how good a team is until you see quality games.

That's all well and good and the SEC bias is obvious but show me some quality B1G wins the last few years. As overrated and flawed as LSU is, they still beat Wiscy this year. Sparty couldn't take care of Oregon even though Zona could. We lost to a bad VTech team. This has all happened just THIS year. You do realize this yes? Nothing else matters. Just win.

We saw how 'just win' worked last week.
Anyway, there are 5 conferences and 4 spots. If the b1g is the weakest link this year (and theres a good argument there) then fair enough.
However forcing 4 conferences to fight over 2 spots b/c of espn's market agenda... is straight up bs.

I watch a ton of games, most of it in a situation where sound isn't possible because of the number of games going on.

Sure. So basically you just admitted you're arguing that ESPN isn't biased but have no idea what they're saying.

Regardless, insofar as winning big games... losing them results in pandemonium for other conferences... except the SEC. Where it's promptly swept under the carpet.

Why do I have to dispute that the B1G stinks to address the severe propaganda and unfair treatment of the sec? They are two separate topics. If they were regarded fairly, it would benefit other leagues, not the B1G.

I avoid espn "talk" like the plague, but it's not possible to skip it entirely with the politicking and spin offered up in the middle of game broadcasts. All of which is discussing what I digest, not how America swallows their nonsense whole and rarely if ever recognizes them as a tmz network promoting their market interests.
