2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

Fair enough, but considering it's not the strongest team in the west it seems like a solid win. I mean, almost every team that someone suggests is a good win, someone else chides...it's kinda silly.
Well it speaks to the problem with CFB (and what Bristol has sculpted). The B1G sucks but when you beat them it's a feather in your cap.

This same wisconsin team lost to Northwestern.

I suppose in the end, it's simply better than losing to them. Again, the dissection of wins on this board sometimes makes it seem as if there are no good wins...only paper tigers propped up by ESPN.

The problem is the inconsistency and blatant propaganda used to prop up their business partner when simply analyzing them fairly would result in high praise (but might not preserve the absurd Bama-LSU rematch or might expose the glaring flaws of teams like lsu). If Wisconsin and or the B1G stink, then regard it that way. But most of all, stop shaping the game recap titles and ticker headings to fit an agenda.

I suppose that's one problem. The other problem is that the conference we are in hasn't done a great deal to force a change in that reporting and the SEC continued with a strong OOC performance this year. All I was really trying to say at the beginning of this discussion is that the SEC has had as many or more quality wins as any other conference.

And if you listen to the propaganda machine that is ESPiN they are the only conference with quality wins and have dominated every other conference.

That would be the problem if this were a 2 conference sport. The insufferable spin for the already dominant SEC is not driven by how good or bad the B1G is, though that often comes up as a rebuttal.

Much like the lack of top quality teams, I think the lack of quality wins is there as well. Another fun byproduct of Bristol convincing everyone that non-southeast football is mediocre or largely irrelevant as a whole.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying here, are you saying that there aren't quality wins out there?

I must admit, I have heard lots of unrealistic/paranoid B1G callers on sports radio that sure sound delusional. I agree with the general sentiment of SEC bias, B1G bashing by the media shared on this forum but in the end........just win some important games and shut the critics up. Until that happens it all just looks like excuse making by B1G fans.

But you've watched these games too, so without hyperbole you presumably can see quality wins by that conference. If so, then I don't guess ESPN's bias is relevant
I don't watch all of the games and those ranking these teams do not either. At that point you either listen to ESPN or to other media folks who also digest ESPN.

When was the time this year that ESPN criticized flaws in the SEC beyond complete trainwrecks (like UF)?

You keep bringing up ESPN, but I really don't know, don't watch so I couldn't tell you. I know I DO watch a lot of football and what i watch tells me that KSU is a quality win as is WVU. You're right that Wiscy isn't really that strong of a team, not horrible either. From what I've watched, I'm not bothered or surprised by that conference being heavily represented at the top of the polls.

How is hockey doing in the perception of the nation? In the late 90s, early 2000s it was a pretty big deal. ESPN realizes they aren't making enough money on it and it's become a joke that some people even like hockey. What ESPN wants the idiotic public to think is hugely relevant to what the idiot public actually thinks.

You have no problem with Mississippi State launching from NR to 1st in 3 weeks off the backs of wins against obviously down LSU and aTm? So then when other SEC teams beat them, they get a huge jump while Miss St only falls a little bit?

aTm is good cuz they beat USCe!!! Let's rank them high!
Miss St is good cuz they beat aTm!!! Bump them 20 spots!
Bama just beat Miss St!!! RANK THEM NUMBER 1A, with AUBURN AND LSU AND OLE MISS AND GEORGIA AND SOME GUY WHO IS WALKING BY AN SEC STADIUM ALL TIED FOR FIRST!!!!!!
