2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

I think they already recognize they need a CCG. They were an early adopter, so I think they have a good grasp of why it's beneficial.
The issue is finding 2 schools. BYU could be an obvious one... maybe Boise State?
I don't know, as it stands right now they're the only conference actively looking at Mid Majors... PAC is the only other conference to recently admit a Mid Major (Utah).
The B12 is financially weak, structurally weak, geographically limited (overwhelmingly in Texas and losing ground), and surrounded by 3 very large conferences that'd love to poach some of their schools - particularly the ones in Texas (4 conferences if you count the ACC, which I imagine would be open to adding WVU.)

Anyway T Boone Pickens wants to add Memphis and SMU.

Re: bold. The Big XXII CG screwed them in '98 and very nearly screwed them again in '03. My opinion is that they don't want it.

I don't think they need as much to happen above them as you think needs to happen, but I do think that if everyone above us wins we don't make it in. MSU doesn't really have any good wins, and with ole miss sucking that won't count for much. We'll jump them if we win out. I don't see them putting in 2 B12 teams, so we would jump probably TCU. But that would put us at 5 (assuming Baylir would be ahead of us). So I think we only need a loss by FSU or Oregon and we're in. If the loss comes from the 2 teams in the SEC or B12 then we probably will need both teams from that conference to lose.

We should jump Miss St. ... but I just don't have any faith.
They had just 1 quality win last week, and they managed to fall into that 4th playoff spot pushing TCU out (with multiple quality wins and a quality loss).
I can't fathom any logic that actually has Miss St. above TCU last week (or this week)
The committee wants 2 SEC teams imo.

In my heart of hearts, I believe Baylor beat TCU.

I think we all know that, but inbetween Massey Ratings and that silly GC stat they made up out of thin air... Jeff Long and Condi Rice don't seem to have noticed.

Oh I think they will be ahead still this week. I'm moreso assuming they will actually weigh conference titles like they say, so once TCU/Baylor clinches they would jump them and once osu wins, if they do, in the B1G championship game they would jump them. So really if they beat ole miss next week they will still be ahead of OSU/TCU/Baylor. The last week though both conference champions, if they have 1 loss, will jump MSU.

It is laughable that a 5 loss Arkansas team is just barely outside the top 25 of both the AP and Coaches Poll. Don't they know that they play in the mighty SEC and therefore should be ranked in the Top 10 after beating Ole Miss? Seriously when a five loss team is ranked 26th over team that have 2 or 3 losses perspective and the SEC fallacy has gotten out of control.

The only change in the top-7 of either poll was Bama jumping FSU in Coaches.
I think you missed my point. The relative total ranking isn't the point, it's the total ranking points divided by the number of voters.

After the MSU game, TCU, Baylor, and Ohio State were nearly tied on the average polsters card at about 5th place.

Now, TCU and Baylor are in a dead heat at 4.5th place on the average coaches card. The Buckeyes are now a point behind that on the average card.

As I posted originally, IF AGAIN I SAY IF for others who seem to misunderstand my point differently than you kujirakura, the CFP outsiders are affected similarly by Ohio State's showing the last two weeks on the scoreline, then Baylor and TCU will move into the final four before Ohio State, requiring multiple losses.

The rise of Arkansas in the rankings should be enough to illustrate the absolute nonsense behind the rankings this year. A two loss Alabama gets in before Ohio State? Probollary!

At this point in the season, right now, last weekend in November, I want the Buckeye players out to prove something. Pissed off. With a bis ass chip on their shoulder. Rank em number 6, number 7, number 8 or lower. I want them out for blood. Destroy everything. Kill everyone. This is the time to make it personal. Take it to that team up north and leave no doubt. Not for rankings. Not for bragging rights. Do it because that's why you came to The Ohio State University. To beat the arrogance out of those weasels to the north. Let them sort out the bodies and move on to the B1G Championship game to face bucky or goldy and crush their souls too. It's the mentality UFM wanted in 2012 when he first got to Columbus. Asking, begging for an angry pissed off football team...play like that angry football team and let the chips fall where they may. I want to see it. I need to see it. I don't care about playoffs or rankings. I want to see this team earn it and put the rest of the college football world on notice. We're The Ohio State Buckeyes. There is nowhere to hide. We're coming for you

Edit: Way to deliver men!

Same reason I want to face the tide in that 1-4 matchup. I want a pissed off team that has been told for the last decade that they aren't in the same league.

At the risk of To deliberately sound like a broken record, how much better would our chances of snagging the last playoff spot be were we facing a top ten Michigan team on Saturday? Again screw this "taking care of business" crap. In more seasons than not, we will have one loss and be battling other one loss teams for the final two playoff spots, and perception will matter. We need a strong Big Ten and a strong Michigan. Ohio Fricking State shouldn't have to count on going undefeated to get in.
